@DragonifyDev@ZainNaghmi Ofc its optimal to always hit the L-cancel, but can you really do it in every situation?
There's a reason some foxes appear that much faster than everyone else. That skill expression is important for the game.
@DragonifyDev@ZainNaghmi Melee is incredibly complex, in half a second there's a thousand variables.
Do you early aerial? or do you delay it as much as possible to have more advantage? do you drift? fast fall? mix-up with a multi-hit? What if the opponent side steps? light-shield? shield Di?
@DragonifyDev@ZainNaghmi Look at the context
Some argue that L-cancels are an arbitrary execution barrier
The same is said for motion inputs
I believe their inclusion makes the games richer, deeper and more fun. It allows for more interactions and possibilities for mastery.
@GuileWinQuote L-Canceling is literally the equivalent of FGC motion inputs. Doing them in isolation is relatively easy, but you need to master them to pull them off in any scenario. Motion inputs and L-cancel both add a layer of execution that balances an otherwise overpowered move.
@ZainNaghmi L-cancel allows players to distinguish themselves.
L-canceling streamlines *most* people's aerials, because mastering all the possible variables is very difficult.
It makes people who manage to truly master it appear like gods of the game.
It's part of Melee's DNA.
@SuperKawaiiDesu I don't mind losing up to like, 15% or even 20% of her damage, but having to do inconsistent (or seemingly inconsistent) links just kills me.
And the idea that every 5 weeks I'd have to learn a new combo just buries me.
It's so hard to shake off the muscle memory of past combos.
@SuperKawaiiDesu Mid lvl player here (barely hit GM)
The j6s2 change nuked my bnb, I know it's a skill issue but I hate having to completely relearn a new bnb.
I'd much rather have the damage scaling be much higher after mid-combo supers or for the combo to generate more burst.
@I__HATE_SOCCER i love dbfz a lot, even after the mickey mouse update
but i gotta say that bnbs that take around 15 seconds + like 15 seconds of level 1s/lvl3... kinda gets old
i guess that's just the price to pay when playing tag fighters
@Fudge_PHL i agree there are counters but this is not rly the same situation since the og 50/50 is from the dj from ledge
id say a better mixup would just be to single hit up-air into wtv since they're trying to asdi up till the last second when they wait for you to land with bair/dair
@rishissb idk bro he said "pick up and play" like first time noobies who are good at other games and could learn like 2 or 4 things and be able defend themselves
playing melee spacies as a noob is extremely difficult, ppl just throw themselves off stage and sd constantly
@Enrique97522692 @Kingly0729@GeraKerla@gbvs_official False
Roll has a hurtbox from around the knees down and loses to any move with a low hitbox or a big enough hitbox that reaches the feet. Besides Siegfried's fireball, many characters' c.5H beat roll simply because they have a vertical sweeping motion
@GuileWinQuote This execution barrier allows for some crazy technical players to make themselves known for how fast, consistent and versatile they are. Take @moky_dokie for example. Similar to a player that's able to perfectly react DP, it allows for self expression in being a technical God.
@GuileWinQuote In order to DP in every situation with perfect timing requires mastery. To shuffle n-air with Fox in every situation, mixing in full hops, Fast fall timings and drift, requires mastery. Trust me that L-Canceling makes *almost* every Fox more streamlined in their N-air approches.
