Last week, Year 13 Historians were lucky enough to visit London and embark upon the “Tudor Trail”. Sites on our tour included; Hampton Court, Westminster Abbey, the Tower of London and the Golden Hinde. Although a very cold trip, we did manage to avoid any rain!

Historians from a variety of year groups led our Remembrance assembly this morning. Their focus was mainly on the 4 million non-white, non-European soldiers who fought with Britain and her allies in WW1. We were also lucky to hear the Last Post #LestWeForget #WeWillRememberThem

In Year 10 History lessons, we have started to learn about the experiences of African Americans in the USA in the 1920s including the “The Harlem Renaissance”. Pupils will also be given the opportunity to research prominent African Americans.#Blackhistorymonth2022

Wonderful to see Anne Frank’s tree continuing to thrive in Lister Park. This is the tree today and 7 years ago! Privileged to have such an important symbol of tolerance as part of our community. “As long as this exists, I know that there will be comfort for every sorrow.”

Year 8 enjoyed their trip to Saltaire this morning to learn all about the life and work of Titus Salt. They were very lucky too as the rain stayed away! #saltaire #philanthropy

Tonight we resurrected the traditional curry with @BradfordGrammar Year 13 Historians; the first since lockdown. A lovely evening, made extra special as it will be Mrs B’s final leavers’ curry.

Today is #HolocaustMemorialDay - the international day to remember all those murdered during the Holocaust, under Nazi persecution of other groups, and in genocides that followed in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.

#OnThisDay in 1945, Soviet soldiers liberated Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi concentration and extermination camp.

Approximately 1.1 million men, women and children were murdered at Auschwitz-Birkenau.

This historic anniversary is now marked as #HolocaustMemorialDay. #OTD
