Check out this amazing model! A grade 9 science student built a wind turbine model to discuss the positive impacts it has towards sustainability, the environment, society, and our communities. @BHSS_Science@BillHogarthSS
One week until you meet the astronauts flying to the Moon aboard the #Artemis II mission!
The @NASA_Orion spacecraft will return to the Moon — this time, with four astronauts aboard. Set a reminder for April 3 for the reveal: https://t.co/Kdj8TTmZkL
My grade 11 biology class held a Health Summit exploring all things bacteria and virus related. Ss built models of the specimen and took on the role of scientists and health professionals and evaluated the impact on societies.
Thank u from the science club to our former students who shared their pathway experiences& how BHSS helped prepare them for life after HS. From biomolecular sci. to computer engineering, Ss chatted about a wide range of options.Stay tuned for our next career corner session!
Hey Science Enthusiasts! Join the science club on Tuesday March 21, 2023 from 12-1pm in the lecture hall for our first post-secondary panel! The panel will feature students from McMaster and Western University as well as UofT. See you then!
Happy International Women's Day!
We're celebrating women who have changed the world. Here's all of the amazing women who have received the #NobelPrize and their remarkable achievements at the time of the award.

Next we visited @PointeaCalliere. We explored the underground archeological remains and learned more about the history of the region. Students also experienced a multimedia show projected over the archeological remains.
We ended the day at the Biodome. Students got to explore five breathtaking ecosystems from the Americas- the tropical rainforest, the Laurentian maple forest, the Gulf of St. Lawrence, the Labrador coast and the Sub- Antarctic Islands. @EspacePourLaVie
Next up! The Planetarium! We explored the two-way relationship between humans and ice during an immersive dome projection, Worlds of Ice. The story, told by Beatrice Deer, brought an Inuit lens to biology, chemistry, astronomy, and earth science.
Students explored the only environmental museum in North America the Biosphere. We learned about various environmental issues we are currently facing, and ways ways to address them. @ParcJeanDrapeau
Next stop was a guided tour at Concordia University. Our students got to see many buildings including the Engineering building- the only school of engineering in North America named after a female engineer! Thank you @Concordia for having us and for your awesome swag!
First up! Maison du Developpement Durable (House of Sustainability). Students were introduced to many ways we can use sustainable practices to provide energy and heat, purify the air, and choose recyclable building materials.
Meet the woman behind early @NASA_Landsat images: Dr. Valerie L. Thomas.
A self-taught programmer, she managed the development of Landsat image processing. Her work in the '70s helped show that satellite imagery could be used to support agriculture. https://t.co/qgIAYqnXEM #BHM
