Addressing Mozart’s Don Giovanni, the importance of sexual consent and the respectfulness of boundaries during intimacy play a key role and bring much to the table in @BK_Opera’s latest adaptation. My thoughts @arts_review:

REVIEW: An #opera in five parts, #TheSea is an exciting new collaboration between Forest Collective & @BK_Opera that looks at love & the abuse of love through patriarchy, trauma & the imbalance of power.

Certainly looks eerie enough on this wet and dark evening for @BK_Opera’s The Lighthouse, in a Melbourne premiere of composer and librettist Peter Maxwell Davies 1979 chamber opera.
Next Thurs 8th Sept, @BK_Opera’s The Lighthouse opens in @Melbourne’s inner north @morelandcouncil’s Brunswick Mechanics Institute. And now there’s that mounting thrill I recognise of a first time experience with an opera previously unknown to me. https://t.co/yrueqm4wcs
Sung with passion and delivered on a shoestring, @BK_Opera’s La Boheme is a little ragged but it’s a stark reminder that operatic storytelling exists on so many scales. Not an ounce of snobbery to be seen here. Oh, and Belinda Dalton is a superbly cast Mimi well worth the ticket.
Back in Melbourne with more Puccini coming up tomorrow night courtesy of @BK_Opera with La bohème, presented in the city’s hyper-hip north at Northcote’s Wesley Anne, a venue I’m eager to see too. https://t.co/3uSZdUFmn4
Two music stands, a background screen and two strong performances from Michael Lampard and Zara Barrett. That, and Kym Dillon’s electronically manipulated and reimagined score brought a flood of mystery, chills and tension in Bartók’s Bluebeard’s Castle for @BK_Opera. Nice work!
Let’s go and open a few doors. Or shall we leave that to Judith? Coming up at Howler @morelandcouncil’s Brunswick, Béla Bartók’s Bluebeard’s Castle courtesy of @BK_Opera. And it starts with “Mister Dog” from Little Golden Books? Gotta think on this one.
Come and see what all the fuss is about in our last concert performance of Bluebeard's Castle, Thursday 8th August at 8pm.
Tickets available through Moshtix and at the door. @ Howler Melbourne https://t.co/NV66hrybXr
