Can definitely confirm histamine’s appetite and sleep drive-suppressing effects
Joked how histamine is “poor man’s cocaine”, as I felt no need to sleep or eat and was aggravated during MCAS flares
Most interestingly, Xolair stabilizing MCAS allowed me to mechanically eat more
I know some of you are in that awful place where your child seems to react to everything.
Food, supplements, medicines, anything new.
And it can leave you feeling as though there is nothing you can actually do.
One thing I always come back to is the environment.
This paper looked at everyday cleaning and personal-care products and found a lot more in them than the label would have you believe, including products sold as “natural”, “non-toxic” and “fragrance-free”.
So if things feel impossible right now, look at the things that don’t require anything from your child.
What you wash their clothes in.
What you clean the house with.
Fragrance in the home.
Shampoo, soap, sprays, plug-ins.
You don’t have to change everything overnight.
But these are things you can quietly start changing around them, and sometimes just having something you can do helps you feel a little less stuck.

@AntoineMECFS I discovered that I have an intolerance to plants — all plants. That’s why I’ve been eating only meat for a while now, although switching to this diet wasn’t easy.
@HalfThePerson I see a clear avoidance of mentioning mast cells by name, even when the research actually concerns them. To me, this doesn’t seem accidental, especially considering that other cells of the immune system are very frequently mentioned by name.
@HalfThePerson millions of ordinary people who have been or are being poisoned by that industry could be entitled to substantial compensation. We don’t have any evidence of that, but mast cells could be crucial because they are among the first cells to detect potential threats.
@HalfThePerson I wouldn’t be surprised at all if some high-ranking people were doing everything they could to prevent mast cells from being taken into consideration, because if that were to happen, it might turn out that a very large part of the industry would have to be overhauled, and 1/2
@froglet80@amiandlife With MCAS, eliminating the triggers is the most important step. Medications are only supportive and cannot fully stop mast cell activation.
@scott_scientist Yes, I can even open console and use image from the source code of the web page but I don't think that anyone can do this. I can manage but it is not for everyone.
5 myths about mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS)
1. Symptoms
❌ You must have "classic" allergy symptoms like anaphylaxis, hives, swelling
✅ As mast cells live everywhere & as they contain 100s of mediators with a range of bioactivities, symptoms can be almost anything, e.g.:
@chydorina@GreyKitties I've noticed that too. It seems as if this illness is a process that should only last a short time, but for some reason it has become stuck in a loop.
@scott_scientist For this kind of threat, mast cells have a specialized line of defense: anxiety. Your immune system is essentially telling you, "Get the fuck out of here—this place isn't safe. You're poisoning yourself."
@scott_scientist@TomKindlon This does not explain intolerance to all plants. Interestingly, for 50 years I had no idea that I had this kind of intolerance. That is why I suspect that there may be more people in the same situation, especially those with symptoms similar to mine.
