Now this is some interesting train station design and transit oriented development proposed for Sen̓áḵw in Vancouver. Much better than the boring little boxes and slightly bigger boring boxes planned for Broadway Line. #vanpoli#vanre https://t.co/wPMlLOD1Pn
The point of Vancouver’s Broadway Subway is, of course, the long overdue subway itself. But so much more could have been achieved in station design - perhaps through architecture competition among emerging local firms or other. https://t.co/ZIMgURnYYF

Well that was civilized. When you know safely voting will only take a few minutes and a short walk from home - can fit in a dog walk and bubble tea run. #ElectionsCanada#Election2021#vote 🇨🇦
@BLAH_CITY They are excluding bikes and trying to override and ignore the consultation the city of Vancouver has already done. Basically, they seem to want to make Gastown into a Disneyland for the cruise ship industry while ignoring the people that live nearby and elsewhere in the city.
It’s a bit crazy when you think about it. Gastown should be car-free, 100% pedestianized. It’s so obvious.Just like any Altstadt in Europe…this sh*t ain’t hard. Just do it already ffs.
@kstewartVAN@CBCVancouver@CBCTheNational@j_mcelroy@fabulavancouver@CBCEarlyEdition @CBCStephenQuinn and some today might welcome just such a collapse in prices - allowing more to get into the market. would be interesting to know if any good came of that early-mid 80s crash. likely, paradoxically, most benefitted those with capital to buy & hold for future, pricier development.
40 years ago today, CBC report on Vancouver real estate, "the most expensive in North America". Similar newspaper articles from 1920s. So which is it, "foreign buyers", "money laundering" or chronic under-supply? #vanre#vanpoli https://t.co/Z89BngU07w
Not sure what to make of this "age of anxiety" claim regarding housing in Canada. If they're anxious about homelessness that's a real issue - but backyards for BBQs - not so much. https://t.co/xlTDitfQeO
There is not necessarily any correlation between wealth and income. If someone sells a $1 or $2 million home somewhere and moves to Canada, they do not need to qualify for a mortgage on that home & likely wouldn’t in first years in the country, but they already have the wealth.
