Come join us this evening at 7:00 in Galerie 6 to learn how training can help you gain the skills and confidence you need to live the life you want. #nfb22
National Convention is only 3 weeks away! Our staff and students are looking forward to joining our Federation family in New Orleans. What are you most looking forward to at #NFB22?
Two of our students completed their walk back drop routes, today. This involves being dropped off at an undisclosed area and having to use one’s skills and problem solving to find their way back to the Center on their own two feet. #canetravel#blindness#independence
It’s National Telephone Day. Phones have become an essential technology in personal, social, and employment realms. Screen readers allow blind users to have access to and participate in the same digital spaces as their sighted peers. #NationalTelephoneDay#technology
@Corbettthoughts Thank you for your kind words! We always appreciate the support and testimonials of our alumni. Graduating is just the beginning of “training” as alumni must continue to use the skills they have learned and continue to challenge themsselves. We are so proud of our alumni!
Today, a student completed his large meal (cooking for 30-40 people). Students learn to budget, manage time, and calculate ingredient quantities all while showing off their cooking skills. So much hard work went into it and it came out delicious! #cooking#independence
Federationists from across the country and members of the global blind community are lending their musical talent to support blind people in Ukraine. You can play a part in this important work by tuning in and making a donation. #BlindWithU https://t.co/rouSVecXiW
Road redesign often occurs every 40-50 years. Staff and students have an unique opportunity right now to provide feedback on the redesign of a neighboring avenue. Thank you @CityMinneapolis for seeking input from the blind community regarding current projects!
This week, we had many student accomplishments, including a drop route, an industrial arts project, a large meal, and a graduation. Congratulations to all of our students for their accomplishments this week! #independence#buildyourfuture#celebratingsuccess
Not only do we build confidence with canes and cooking, but also with conversations. This morning’s seminar used table topics to develop staff and students’ ability to confidently speak off the cuff, an important skill to ace an interview. #publicspeaking#confidence#jobskills
@MplsWard10@grayfoxcoffee@simpson_housing Thank you for coming to learn about our programs! We enjoyed having you and look forward to continuing to find ways to be involved in our community.
