Historic moment in Canterbury 🙏
Last night, Catholic Mass was celebrated at the tomb of Saint Thomas Becket in Canterbury Cathedral to mark the Feast of the Translation of his relics — led by the Pope’s representative from the Vatican.
@NewmanSocPres It’s amazing how many Catholic high schools proudly send their students to “so-called” colleges and universities. @NewmanSocPres is right…only to lose their faith. On the other hand, so many great Catholic colleges recommended by @Newman_Society produce great Catholic leaders.
Thank you, @Father_LoCoco, on behalf of my wife Bonnie.
Our son, Michael Patrick, died on Friday afternoon.
Mother Mary, thank you for your Fiat, your example, and your intercession, which make our son’s death easier to understand and to bear.
“I am an African. Let me say clearly: the liturgy is not the place to promote my culture. Rather, it is the place where my culture is baptised, where my culture is taken up into the Divine.” — Robert Cardinal Sarah
The CDC has determined that critical race theory is spreading rapidly. Best prevention: ear coverings, social distance six miles from any school showing symptoms of government control. Those with religious exemptions to homeschool or faithful Catholic school need not get the jab.
It’s dismaying when good scholars embrace radical “academic freedom” over truth.
Bias thrives when colleges are untethered from truth. No longer expected to conform to reality, they are dominated by power and politics. Loose opinion is granted the status of absolute truth. 1/2
Teach logic, rhetoric, dialectic, Aristotelian philosophy in high school — before they go to college and enter the public square, where all common sense is under attack.
I have taught these to high schoolers for a decade. It’s been an enormous blessing to me and to the students.
“we never hear a public official say, ‘If American kids are to be better educated, they need to have better parents and better friends and better TV programs and better popular music.’” @catholicthing https://t.co/tgIGY3kaBZ
@catholicthing Professor Smith does a great job tying The Chosen to everyday life. One small thing though, I believe that the plowers were James and John, not Peter and Andrew.
Brophy College Prep is an esteemed, all-male Jesuit high school in Phoenix. Tuition is $16,900.
A concerned parent sent me these images. “Stay woke,” “Protect Trans Youth,” “Sanctuary Cities Now” posters in a civics classroom. Segregated “affinity spaces” for nonwhite students.
@GrayConnolly Isn’t that like working out ethics without morals? Getting agreement on statutes, given competing interests, is often more difficult than agreeing on broad principles, which guide particular law. I doubt the U.S would have RFRA without the First Amendment forcing the issue.
