Former Texas Rangers first baseman Mark Teixeira announced this morning on X that he is running for Congress as a Republican in Texas’ 21st district 🇺🇸

The 14-year MLB veteran said he is "ready to help defend President Trump’s America First agenda"

The 3x All-Star, 5x Gold Glover, 3x Silver Slugger, and 2009 World Series champion, Teixeira was drafted fifth overall by Texas in 2001 and spent his first four-and-a-half big league seasons with the Rangers.

Teixeira added that "playing for the Texas Rangers and raising my family in the Lone Star State has been one of the greatest blessings of my life."
