It's a Jimmy Buffett kind of night...
And, this has turned into a longer story.
Jimmy grew up in my home town (born in Pascagoula, MS) and went to McGill Institute (boys' Catholic school) years before I went to Bishop Toolen High School (the girls' school, across the street).
We grew up with Jimmy playing at the Gulf and in Fairhope. He always played concerts at home before the crooks took over the one local venue. It was a blast! Those were his "drunk" days, before he got famous and they were the best. Absolutely the best.
Once, Jimmy opened for Loggins and Messina in the late 70's at a concert we saw. Those were the days before security was needed and we could wait by the tour buses in the parking lot. We met Kenny Loggins, (Jim Messina either didn't come out, or wasn't in the bus) in the parking lot behind the Civic Center; got t-shirts.
We had so may Buffett concerts as teenagers, that we actually STOPPED GOING! I'd love to have some of those back. Those were the great Buffett days.
Jimmy played in Paris, France, ON my 50th birthday.
So...
"She went to Paris".
I even made his show video; my 15 seconds of fame.
It was a blast. It was my first trip out of the USA. My now ex-husband, said that if I could get tickets, we'd go. He was thinking that I'd never get them. 45 minutes later, I had tickets. LMAO - ROOKIE
That was 17 years ago, before it all went to shit over there. I went back the following May, with Mommy and one of my sisters. Great memories.
I miss Jimmy Buffett and I miss seeing him live. I still can't listen to the music that was released after his death. It hurts too much. "Bubbles Up" is a wonderful tune and story; a great life lesson.
It reminds me of his early days; I just can't.
GO to concerts, GO to shows with live musicians playing music. You will not ever regret going.
You will regret the ones you didn't attend. Life is short.
@Hawkmistress55@RonDeSantis Yeah, itโs actually been there for decades, just much improved now. We used to crab off of the old pier as kids.
The Cedar Point pier, before the DI Bridge, has been rebuilt, but I havenโt been.
I saw a man get hit by a car crossing the road. Thatโs the last time I was there.
โIโve never been fired in my life until I spent a couple of months with this manโ ๐คฃ
Sig Hansen, from the Deadliest Catch, also competed on Season 14 of The Celebrity Apprentice!
@MargoMartin47@Rotruck5670 I didnโt know Sig was on Celebrity Apprentice! I love watching Deadliest Catch. It gives me great appreciation for those that battle horrid seas to catch crabs.
@FreddyLA7 Iโm guessing youโre still on the Eastern Shore. I hate that I missed you, Freddy!
If you have time, cut off I-10 and go through Downtown Mobile. The Oaks in Bienville Square are hundreds of years old, and gorgeous.
Be careful in NO and โkeep your head on a swivelโ.
