We welcome the launch of the SAS Eligibility & Permanency Framework.

Agreed through the 2024 pay deal, it provides a structured route for eligible locally employed doctors to transition to permanent SAS contracts, recognising those already working at this level.

Let’s just set out the facts:
•  The BMA isn’t aware of a single doctor who has been held back due to TOOT from strikes
•  If you go over your 20 days (foundation)/ 14 days (other trainees) TOOT - it triggers a portfolio review
•  A portfolio review happens at ARCP anyway

Practices in England are being asked to take part in a further action, alongside ongoing action on data sharing agreements.

This month’s action asks practices to remove or ignore non-contractual medicines optimisation software, which may fall outside of the remit of the ICB.
