Define irony. My friend Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib @afalkhatib and I walked into a Palestine shop at «Arendalsuka» in Arendal, Norway this afternoon to talk to the people working there, and hear their views with an open mind.

Ahmed buys some soap, a bit of tea and a few handmade products, and tells the shop owner that he believes Palestinians and Israelis must live in peace with each other. Ahmed says he does not want any war with Israel, and that Hamas is terrible for the Palestinian people.

The shopkeeper replies that he, on the contrary, supports the terrorist group Hamas, and that Israel must be destroyed. We say goodbye and leave the shop.

Right afterwards we are approached by several undercover police officers who stop both me, Ahmed, and several of our friends at the same time for “suspicious behaviour.” We are required to show identification, say who we are and what business we have in the town of Arendal.

Isn’t it ironic that a guy has just stood there openly, in front of both us and customers, saying that he supports the terrorist organization Hamas, and that the entire democratic country og Israel must be wiped off the map — and the police are completely fine with that?

Meanwhile we, who visited the shop and tried to encourage peace, are the ones stopped by the police for “suspicious behaviour”?

It’s good that the norwegian police are active in their jobs and attentive, but something tells me they are missing the mark a bit on where they ought to be directing their attention.

Gestapo in Norway? At the urging of several "pro‑Palestine" activists who recognized me and didn't like my presence, including individuals who openly supported Hamas at the Arendal Week political festival in Norway, Norwegian secret police stopped me and my friends, including three prominent Jewish advocates, and questioned us as if we were a threat. They took my ID and pressed me on "why I was well known," what my political affiliations were, and why I was attending the festival. I explained that I was a speaker with a fully booked event the day before, here to talk about a new book about Gaza and Hamas I had just put out, and provided clear information that should have dispelled any "suspicion." Despite our cooperation, the interrogation continued with increasingly inappropriate questions. I became frustrated, offended, alarmed, and demanded my ID back and an end to the detention. The Norwegians I was with described how they've never seen or experienced anything like that in their country before and were shocked by the questions they were asked by the secret police, presuming that they were criminals. Shortly afterward, some of the same "pro-Palestine" activists, or Hamas agents, appeared on my social media to leave hostile comments about my presence at the festival, making it obvious that they had filed the false report that triggered the police action.

If Norwegian authorities are willing to behave like political enforcers toward a Gazan American and three Scandinavian Jews who are simply trying to engage with diverse audiences, all because pro‑resistance agitators want to sabotage my efforts to speak and share my work, it reveals a bleak reality about the current discourse on Israel and Palestine. It shows how deeply troubling and undemocratic influences are shaping perceptions and policy, driven by actors who reject pluralism and seek enforced conformity. Norway spends billions of its taxpayer money promoting democracy, freedom, and liberal values abroad. It should start by respecting genuine freedom of speech at home rather than becoming a tool for supporters of a foreign extremist movement.

If this is how Norway wants to treat political dissenters and its Jewish community, then shame on it 💔

Israeli researchers have made another medical breakthrough.

Researchers at Tel Aviv University have developed a blood test that can diagnose lung cancer with over 90% accuracy.

Right now, lung cancer is diagnosed with detailed imaging, physical exams, and tissue samples, usually only after symptoms appear.

The test the Israelis made, which is extremely low cost, finds the diagnosis in a mere 2-3 days with no invasive procedures while the disease is at its most easily treatable (but harder to detect) stage.

Israel was stunned yesterday by the news of the disappearance of Mali and Liel Yahalomi, a mother and daughter who vanished into thin air during a trip to Europe.

Mali and Liel began their trip in Prague before arriving in Vienna last Friday. They checked into an Airbnb, and that was the last time their family received any sign of life from them.

The mystery deepened when investigators discovered that their mobile phones last transmitted location signals on Saturday morning, near a market in the Austrian capital.

Then came another puzzling detail: the two women apparently left their accommodation during the Shabbat, something unusual given that they are observant Jewish women.

Tonight in another development: the Mossad has become involved in the investigation.

But the latest details released sound almost like something out of an Agatha Christie mystery:
investigators now suspect the two may have crossed into another country.

Investigators are also examining indications that the two took a substantial amount of cash with them when they left Israel.. And even more strikingly, there are indications that location data was deleted from their phones.

Israeli Police Commissioner has ordered a command center to operate around the clock, 24/7, in Israel and abroad. Israeli security agencies have also joined the search and investigation.

The investigation will now be led by Lahav 433, the Israeli police’s elite investigative division, which handles major organized crime, international and cross-border investigations and cases requiring advanced intelligence capabilities.

With every new detail, the mystery only gets deeper.

Israel Police Chief Daniel Levy has ordered “all necessary resources and means” be allocated in Israel and abroad to locate Mali and Liel Yahalomi, an Israeli mother and daughter missing in Vienna since Friday.

The pair also missed their scheduled flight home to Israel.
