Convient outrage to push a tough on crime narrative when in fact Louisiana only knows incarceration as a tool and nothing else and still ranks last in every thing
Jeff Landry has been the chief law enforcement officer of Louisiana for over a decade — eight years as AG, three as governor. We are still ranked #50 in crime.
The governor stood at a podium today after a mass shooting at the Mall of Louisiana and offered nothing but the same failed playbook. More jails. More Angola. More dog whistles.
At some point the record has to speak louder than the rhetoric.
The data is clear — Jeff Landry’s policies cost us more money and they don’t make us safer.
I am praying for every family impacted by this act of violence and all the violence across our state. Too many families are carrying this grief because our leaders choose to be reactive instead of proactive.
Notice I’m not focused on his dog whistles and racism — that’s what he wants. His policies are far more racist than his rhetoric. Talk about how he’s failed as a leader. That’s how we remove him next year.

Hey Sienna ❤️
Come check out how children feel about how they are treated by administrators at their school…
The administration created the environment and of its unhealthy the kids will act accordingly as well
Suspensions in schools disproportionately impact Black and brown students. The inequality of the system toward young people could negatively change the trajectory of their lives. It is time to hold the system accountable for this unfair treatment. #nomoreprisons, #investinkids
@votelandry AND we don't do enough to protect folks around those issues. Instead we just punish our neighbors for having a hard time. The spirit to help our neighbors we all real proud of? It doesn't show up in our policy environment. Instead our policies are ever more just...mean.
Incredible the amount of people who have reading comprehension issues. We over incarcerate more than anywhere else. This is NOT because people are *born* with a bad character that leads them to jail. Things happen along the way that lead them there (poverty, abuse, education etc)
TLDR: the owner of @ChickfilA also owns a major movie studio (called “Trilith”) outside of Atlanta where @MarvelStudios has filmed a bunch of recent movies & series.
Both the @ChickfilA owner & the CEO of Trilith are on the Board of Directors for the Atlanta Police Foundation.
#NOLA's new police chief is off to a great start as NOPD looks to implement drones as a force multiplier – as if a surveillance network of 900+ cameras, the use of facial recognition tech and multiple LPRs wasn't enough.
