@SinjinDelmore@Kozzist That said, I think it's not entirely inaccurate to say that Hamas fights for *their* vision of free Palestine more than they fight for free Palestine in general and have historically been unwilling to sacrifice the former where it would help the latter
@SinjinDelmore@Kozzist I think you misunderstood my point - Hamas *does* fight for Palestine (certainly at least their idea of what Palestine should be). My point is that they conduct that fight in a way that is ultimately detrimental to most Palestinians (their atrocious civilian governance aside)
@SinjinDelmore@Kozzist To rephrase, do you think Hamas would be willing to abandon its islamist and authoritarian motivations for the sake of general welfare of Palestinians? Because I think the issue boils down to the answer to that question
@SinjinDelmore@Kozzist I, a one-state solution as you describe (and I aree that is probably the only solution) would suddenly be possible, but would be explicitly secular and democratic, with all that implies e.g. for women's rights, do you think Hamas would accept that?
@SinjinDelmore@Kozzist What do you believe that if Hamas were presented with the choice I illustrate above today. You can differentiate if you think that Palestine existing within 1967 borders (i.e. 2SS) or complete disappearance of Israel are relevant.
@SinjinDelmore@Kozzist I think that is little disingenous. The goal of Hamas is free Palestine, yes, but free Palestine under *specifically* a very strict Islamic regime. I would even say that if Hamas had the choice between a free secular Palestine and continued oppression, they would choos the latter
