1. Approve the material you want to study with questions in mind and aim to find the answers.
2. Utilize active recalling and mnemonic devices to retain information better.
3. Create a system that helps you manage your time effectively.
How many of these do you already do?🤔
It's important to remember whatever storm may fall upon you, remember: you're never alone. The Lord loves you and will deliver you—in His time, not ours.

🚨 Pharmacy Career Advancement in Nigeria (2026): A Heart-to-Heart Teaching Session with My Interns & IT Students
Good morning, my young pharmacists-in-training and IT students who joined us today!
Grab your notes, ask questions anytime, and let’s grow together.
Pharmacy in Nigeria is still one of the most respected professions. With rising diseases, local drug manufacturing push, and digital tools, the opportunities are massive, but you must be intentional.
1. The Foundation: How to Even Start Practising Legally
First things first:
• You need a B.Pharm or the emerging PharmD from a PCN-accredited school.
• Complete your 1-year internship in an approved facility (hospital, community, or industry).
• Pass the PCN licensing exam + get your annual practising licence. NYSC done? Good.
📍 Foreign-trained colleagues: FPGOP is running right now (first cycle 2026). Check https://t.co/aNXufVBKCB.
Any intern here still confused about the timeline? Speak up!
2. Where Can You Grow? Main Sectors & Realistic Progression
Let me draw this on the board (or imagine the table):
• Community/Retail Pharmacy, Supervising Pharmacist, Manager/Owner, Consultant (via the new CPACPI bands)
Biggest earning potential + entrepreneurship vibe.
• Hospital/Clinical, Intern, Senior Clinical Pharmacist, Consultant/Specialist (WAPCP Fellow)
Most patient-facing and deeply rewarding.
• Industrial, Production/QA, Regulatory/R&D Manager, Director
Lucrative, especially with Nigeria’s local manufacturing boom.
• Regulatory (NAFDAC/PCN), Officer, Senior Inspector, Director
Job security + national impact.
• Academia/Research, Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Professor
For the thinkers and teachers among you.
• Emerging (Tech/Public Health), Supply Chain, Clinical Product Specialist/Digital Health, Founder
IT students, this is your sweet spot! Health tech like DrugStoc needs pharmacists who understand both drugs and systems.
Special shout-out to the new CPACPI structure (launched 2025, already getting global endorsement in 2026):
This is the world’s first structured career pathway for community pharmacists, designed to end years of stagnation.
• Community Pharmacist (≥1 year post-internship)
• Senior Community Pharmacist (>3 years + WAPCP Part 1)
• Community Pharmacist Specialist (>6 years + certifications & publication)
• Senior Community Pharmacist Specialist (>9 years)
• Community Pharmacist Consultant (>12 years + full requirements)
It’s merit-based: pharmaceutical care, research, teaching others, using digital tools, and collaboration. No more “same level for 20 years.” Exciting times!
3. How to Fast-Track Your Growth
• Pursue postgraduate: https://t.co/dvTBBeLLV8., PhD, or better still, WAPCP Fellowship. Becoming a Fellow (F.W.A.Pharm) opens consultant doors.
• Never stop learning: Mandatory CPD through PSN. Add short courses in digital pharmacy, pharmacovigilance, or compounding.
• Network aggressively: Join PSN, ACPN, AHAPN, and the YPG.
• Build digital skills
• Start content creation early (like I’m doing with #HealthTipsNG, it builds visibility and opens doors.
4. The Entrepreneurship Dream (Rewarding in Nigeria)
After at least 2 years post-registration + current PCN premises licence, you can own a pharmacy.
Think beyond basic dispensing:
• Franchise models
• Specialized services (chronic disease management, weight-loss compounding, ART refill)
• Online/tele-pharmacy (new PCN guidelines support this)
Abuja-based interns, NAFDAC HQ is here. Regulatory or industry moves can be strategic.
5. Challenges & My Realistic Encouragement
Yes, there is brain drain, infrastructure issues, and counterfeits. Salaries start modest in public sector but rise fast in private practice, industry, or successful ownership.
But the trends are positive: PSN reforms, CPACPI, digital growth, and task-shifting giving pharmacists more clinical roles.
Let's continue 👇
"The World Health Organization recommends routine deworming every six months for children starting at age two.
If you live or work in places with poor sanitation, you may need treatment every 4 to 6 months."
When last did you deworm yourself? 🤔
Yesterday,a patient walked into the pharmacy with complaints of abdominal pain and an urge to vomit 🤮. The pharmacist asked him when last he dewormed himself and said it’s been years . He was prescribed vermox to use . He took the medication last night and woke up this morning with a strong urge to vomit. He went to the restroom to throw up and behold he vomited the live worm 🪱 in the video which he forwarded… When last did you deworm yourself??
