Dear @GOC_UK .
May registrants have been asking you regarding your stance on Maxi/Ghost clinics that are run routinely now at @VisionExpress stores up and down the country. Could you please signpost the guidance.
Thanks
Also @GOC_UK, if an optometrist were to be sued because they were forced to see maxi/ghost clinics at @VisionExpress - more patients in less time - and therefore miss sight or life threatening pathology, will you be more lenient when they are brought for their FtP hearing?
Dear @The_AOP.
On the topic of maxi/ghost clinics that are now part of virtuall all @VisionExpress stores, what is your advice for optometrists?
Should optometrists see maxi/ghost clinics? If so, which tests should they skip?
Thanks
Also, @The_AOP , if someone is forced by @VisionExpress to see maxi clinics, should they offer to pay you less on indemnity insurance as one might argue it's a gross failure on your part to not have successfully contested these?
You see, @VisionExpress, she's quite a stickler for ethics and she doesn't want anybody else to have less chair time, nor does she want an optometrist to have to take shortcuts in her or anyone else's eye exam.
Hi @VisionExpress, I'd like to book my gran in for an eye exam.
I'm concerned that the appointment she'll get will be in the "maxi clinic" and therefore she'll be put at risk of being "whizzed" through.
How do she avoid this?
The @CollegeOptomUK and @The_AOP preferred to sit and watch as optometry was reduced to an apprenticeship - busying themselves with the vital tasks of printing leaflets for @Specsavers and useless glossy magazines, respectively.

It makes total sense why optometrists have been forced to see routine patients throughout a National Lockdown. Overworked minds never see the writing on the wall. @GOC_UK@CollegeOptomUK@The_AOP
@GOC_UK In your consultation the majority were also against the ESR.
I've read your response to the consultation and it seems like the views of registrants are being ignored and you had already made up your mind before it begun.
What's the point in public consultation if we are ignored?
@GOC_UK Even though by your own studies it shows its not financially viable?
Universities could only have £100 per student to pay for teaching and placements will cost £1500. This is from the independent research you paid for. If you are going to ignore it what's the point?
@mikeoptics@CollegeOptomUK When it's a 20 minute clinic, we follow the @CollegeOptomUK and when it's a ST and CL AC we follow the @The_AOP. Something tells me they worked together to get the seemingly contradictory advice out there.
The @CollegeOptomUK advises around 15 mins in the exam room.
Does this mean that an EE & CL AC are NOT to be done on the same day? If so, has the College written to all members highlighting this in no uncertain terms?
A family of 3 attend. 2 under 6 children and a single mother. All asymptomatic. How does the @CollegeOptomUK propose these are all seen safely as per their guidance of 15 minutes in the exam room?
