Build Ontario Line Differently | We're a coalition of community groups from across Toronto advocating for greater consultations and transparency from @Metrolinx
"While we are disappointed in today's ruling, we also know that there are more fights ahead. In the coming weeks, we will continue meeting with community organizers, business groups, political leaders and affected stakeholders as we plan our next steps"

“A Divisional Court judge on Friday evening ordered an interim stay on Metrolinx removing further trees from the site until at least next Tuesday, when an Indigenous organization will argue why the court should hear its appeal in the case.”

The Law Society's injunction to halt cutting of trees at Osgoode Hall has been denied by the Ontario Superior Court.
Building more public transit is critical, but not at the cost of public consultation. Shame on this government for silencing the voices of Torontonians.

Metrolinx must do better to work with Toronto & its residents on the Ontario Line. At City Council this week, we supported my motion to call on Metrolinx to work with us. It is possible to build transit fast, protect green spaces & respect our communities. https://t.co/WEgS9vq0Lw
Last night at City Hall a coalition of community groups sat with City Staff & Parsons Engineering to review their review of Metrolinx’s proposal for the Osgoode Hall Stn on the Ontario Line…thanks to Councillor @ausmalik for giving us a chance to do what @Metrolinx didn’t do/1
"Doug Ford’s government directed Metrolinx to leave two Toronto New Democrat MPPs off a notice sent to city and federal politicians about tree removals in their jurisdictions"

YOU'RE INVITED: @ausmalik is hosting a public meeting at City Hall about charting a better and different path forward for the Ontario Line, and we encourage you to join us.

Re the Osgoode trees - this is moment when we see whether Toronto is capable of acting like a city and not just a technical space which doesn’t accept the primary role of the citizenry or aesthetics. This space is one of the most beautiful in the city.
"Some Moss Park residents are advocating in a coalition called @BOLDCoalitionTO to prevent more communities from meeting the same fate.
“Unfortunately, it’s too late for Moss Park,” Hong said. “I hope lessons will be learned from this,” - @FOMossPark"

Thank you Ian for this photo of what #MossPark looks like right now. Toronto needs transit ASAP; Toronto has also lost confidence that @Metrolinx can build the Ontario on time without devastating recovering local businesses. #Onpoli
Following yesterday’s hearing at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Justice Chalmers has granted the interim injunction restraining Metrolinx from cutting down any trees at the Osgoode site. 1/3
UPDATE: An interim injunction has now been granted until Feb. 10, restraining Metrolinx from further cutting down any trees. Crews started doing so on Saturday morning.
How can anyone trust @Metrolinx ? They betrayed promises to #MossPark and are seemingly unable to complete the #EglintonCrossTown. Why should we expect the #OntarioLine to be any different? https://t.co/yXcNrcmYz4
“Ordinary citizens, let alone City Hall or institutions like @LawSocietyLSO , should not have to go to court to be heard. Metrolinx is a public agency. This is a wake-up call that Metrolinx’s so-called ‘public consultation’ lacks integrity.”
The Build Ontario Line Differently (BOLD) Community Coalition, which has advocated against the clearing of trees at Osgoode Hall, welcomed Sunday’s update and said it looks forward to working with city councillors to find a transit solution that “meets everyone’s needs.”
“While the trees of Osgoode Hall are temporarily protected, just a stone’s throw away at Queen and Parliament at Moss Park 61 trees were wrongfully cut down,” BOLD said in a statement.
