@SawyerMerritt@Tesla Despite Farzad's determination to stick with this now worn-out joke, if they have steering wheels, they don't mean a thing regarding robotaxi rollout. They are for engineering and testing only.
@JOBhakdi Again Jo, those cyber cabs all have steering wheels. As @nymbusjp said in his well-researched article, it is unlikely Tesla will do a mass retrofit in an outdoor parking lot and all of those cabs may just stay as engineering models for future FSD version testing.
You don’t need to wait for the cybercab. The model Y or model 3 will drive for them today. I’m 70 and still a good driver but I know my vision and reflexes are already not what they once were. I use FSD literally 99% of the time, both in town and freeway. It is already a huge help and only getting better.
Very well laid out, thank you. Regarding safety, I am still perplexed by what Elon said immediately after his remarks on convenience issues:
“…I think it's not going to make sense for us to deploy unsupervised FSD or Robotaxi at large scale when we know that there are major architectural improvements to the software that can improve safety. I think we're going to want to finish writing that software, validate it, and release it before going to large-scale unsupervised FSD, depending on what large scale means.”
So much of this could be cleared up with a very simple official status statement from Tesla.
@Sponyak@farzyness And when they need a remedy for that discomfort, they will be able to get it same day from a delivery service created by a billionaire.
It really is a lack of imagination and scarcity/fear thinking. During the oil embargo and energy crisis of the 1970s, President Carter's response was to implore people to cut back; he told us to turn down our thermostats and passed a 55-mph national speed limit.
Nowhere was there talk of, "let's innovate our way out of this". And today's leftists are still wedded to the same script - use less energy, make your life smaller, etc. - like that environmental bumper sticker that said, "Live simply so that others may simply live".
How about, "Live boldly so that everyone can thrive"?
Hey Chuck, I understand (and applaud) that you only make videos when there is something relevant, but it’s good to see you back. I have a UPL that is very similar to yours but, oddly, my MY waits for both directions to be clear instead of taking refuge in the median. It did do it once so I know it can, but only once.
