@MatthewStadlen Agree , we voted Labour into power with Starmer as leader , Burnham wasn’t even a parliamentary candidate in 2024 , he has also lost 2 previous leadership elections , This by-election which has been imposed , seems very undemocratic with the public being mere bystanders.
Prime Minister @Keir_Starmer STAND FIRM. Do not quit, and don't let Burnham have a free ride. Make your case in a leadership contest, and the membership will BACK YOU. #IStandWithKeirStarmer
Who does Donald Trump think he is being so rude to the British Prime Minister? Mean-spirited, small-minded, and unbecoming - yet again - of an American President. Not to mention the fact that Britain had higher growth than the US in the first quarter of this year.
When the hype dies down, the problems in Number 10 remain the same for whoever holds the office. Keir Starmer is already governing through them. Stabilised the economy, invested in our public services, and he walks towards the problems, not away.
Glad to go on Politics East Midlands this morning & stand up for our Prime Minister.

The Keir Starmer I know is decent. He is compassionate. He is kind. He is thoughtful.
He is driven by a deep sense of public service, by duty, and by a belief that politics should be about improving people’s lives rather than advancing personal ambition.

I cannot disagree with anything @JohnSlinger says here, and others share our views.
No one should be led to believe that most Labour MPs want to oust a sitting Labour PM, they don’t. We want stability, delivery and focus on what we were elected to do.
Or Andy Burnham puts the Nations interest ahead of his personal ambition and stands down, urging his supporters to stand behind a PM who is only halfway through achieving all the things we voted him in for..
'My intern had a more in-depth application process than Andy Burnham faces to be PM.'
@JohnSlinger tells @Lewis_Goodall the former Manchester Mayor's route to 10 Downing Street 'is an absolute farce'.
The spectacle of the Labour Party tearing itself apart and trashing a leader/PM with a large parliamentary majority is astonishing and distressing in equal measure. After so many years out of power, it is recklessly irresponsible.

Is it time to legislate; if a change of leader is forced by its own Party then a General Election must be called.
That would stop the constant churn and focus all politicians on delivery, instead of work place politics. These endless ‘house of cards’ games would end and the country would benefit.
Let’s legislate to focus minds.
"The markets are watching. And I think Andy Burnham taking over would be bad and in the wrong direction."
Shadow Chancellor Sir Mel Stride says Andy Burnham has "flip-flopped all over the place" during the by-election

@DPJHodges Disagree , It clearly suits your agenda , but the whole @bbclaurak BBC programme today was appalling & awful journalism, the panel & style of interviewing forcing a narrative to change the PM was poor journalism, heavily biased & wrong interpretations to force the narrative .

This is quite baffling in 🇫🇷. Starmer (and Powell) have been remarkably solid bilateral partners for Macron. The 🇬🇧 and 🇫🇷 co-lead coalitions on Ukraine and Hormuz, have forged unprecedented cooperation on nuclear deterrence, and with Germany have given Europe E3 leadership
@paulmasonnews@AndyBurnhamGM Burnham is weak compared to Starmer . His policies are untested &unscrutinised by the media . It is wrong & undemocratic to overthrow a democratically elected PM , it is deeply unfair to the electorate who voted Labour with Starmer as leader . Trust in Labour will be lost .
