@MeganHutcheson7 Becoming a parent who will raise their child with unconditional love and respect and teach them to be a positive light in this world is so important because you truly are raising the future. #CD7 @psyc220
@Aislingg05 @psyc220 I think your goal is amazing! Small impacts can lead to huge things and there has been plenty of times where people have been seen as guilty until proven innocent and it should not be that. #CD7 @psyc220
striving to be the things that I named, I can be a role model or life changer to kids or adults, that it is possible to break out of those bad habits society has laid upon us by the previous role models in our life. (2/2)
@psyc220 #CD7 One of my goals for the future is to be a leader (professional or personal setting) who actively remains compassionate, empathetic & non-judgmental. It is so very easy to lose sight of being the three things I named but, if I can be that one person constantly (1/2)
@terrykiiim @psyc220 It is insane how a man and woman can have virtually the same resume but, the man will earn more or receive the job before the woman does. @psyc220 #CD6
@ChloeSwan17 @psyc220 Just to further touch on this and this was also pointed out in the YouTube video, the minority is more so pushed to be "strong" and mental illness is seen more as a myth. @psyc220 #CD6
@psyc220 #CD6 could not receive the counseling or help they needed because their families did not have the insurance to cover those resources which could result in people turning to other substances since they cannot receive proper care.
@psyc220 #CD6 An intersectionality I feel most people are not aware of is socioeconomic status, race, and mental illnesses. I grew up in an area that I would consider diverse and I have seen those more fortunate be able to receive counseling while others (1/2)
@sierrajs1280 @psyc220 I feel as though some professors grew up during a time where mental health is seen as a myth when it has been proven to be existent. Our generation will be the ones to spark change and spread the knowledge. #CD5b @psyc220
#CD5b @psyc220 People with psychiatric disorders are heavily mistreated by the university especially within certain departments. Some professors will not even grant a simple extension to an assignment because the "real world" would not.
@allie_pritz @psyc220 #CD5b @psyc220 I would hope so as well but, I feel our generation will have to be the change in the real world that is more compassionate and empathetic of those around us.
@mylindler @psyc220 I think some people do not know how to properly compliment and do not realize how offensive their words may come off and those type of people need to do some sort of reflecting #CD5b @psyc220
@DaphnePfoser @cd5b @psyc220 This is not only disrespectful towards people with disabilities but, also to the "pretty girl" making it seem like she's a nice trophy to obtain and not a human with feelings #CD5b @psyc220
@carolineglovis1 @psyc220 This was disheartening to read because it clearly shows ASL is not a concern to the authority and I have met deaf alumni within the past 2 weeks so, I can only wonder how many classes they offered ten years ago. #CD5a @psyc220
@charlottepsyc @psyc220 This process is so frustrating because your body can be dramatically changed due to an traumatic experience and it could take a literal month in the beginning of the semester for your paperwork to be processed #CD5a @psyc220
@BGO_Iotas1963 @psyc220 Even with proper paperwork, it is mostly up to the professor's discretion what type of "extension" is given no matter the student's situation. #CD5b @psyc220
#CD5a @psyc220 McAuliffe will require for employers to offer paid sick days which will help people with disabilities who feel they are unable to take days off to take care of themselves or provide for their families
@zoem444 @psyc220 Thank you so much! I've been raised to just be myself and throughout my entire life, I've been considered one of the "boys" and I still to this day could not tell you what that means. Nobody should live their life trapped in a box society created for them. #CD4 @psyc220
#CD4 @psyc220 Solidarity can be built among individuals if people take a step back from their socially-constructed gender roles and reflect on who they are as a person. Taking a step back from those roles can help others to realize we are connected by more than gender. (1/3)
@egglestonsk23 @psyc220 Exactly! I think it is time for the world to start having "baby is healthy" party and just move on π we should start focusing on human health and not small things such as gender #CD4 @psyc220
@jesszoggpsych @psyc220 This is also something I emphasized in my tweet. Oppression does not discriminate and anyone can be effected and oppression can lead to mental health issues #CD4 @psyc220
