@JamesTheNew123@notXiangyu Taiwan society is basically 20% people who want to be white adjacent, 40% people who want to be Japan adjacent, 20% who mainly worship local Taoist deities and 20% who emphasize mainland China ties.
@JamesTheNew123@notXiangyu DPP followers want to be Japanese. Taiwan was part of the Japanese Empire for 50 years and Japan basically built the civil society (including all major cities' urban planning). *I am told* the colonization was somewhat benevolent and not nearly as brutal as in Korea or mainland.
@CTankie1917@CarlZha The civil bureaucracy is decidedly better in Tier 1 (and parts of Tier 2) cities. Improving the civil bureaucracy across the country will be necessary to make Tier 3 and below cities genuinely livable.
@ysfg998 @policytensor@ka_grieco The newest Type 95 being built now was designed to overmatch all US submarines. This is the design intended for mass production. It would take at least 10 years building three per year to finally achieve a near global presence.
@ysfg998 @policytensor@ka_grieco The US still does not have a hypersonic missile. It's still "expected 2026". China has hypersonic missiles popping out of every orifice. Gliding, scramjet, aero ballistic, you name it. Chinese SSN (equivalent to Virginia) chased USS Connecticut into an underground mountain.
@ysfg998 @policytensor@ka_grieco Basic energy needs are covered by green electricity and EV revolution. PLA Navy presence in Western Indian Ocean is to ensure all shipping to and from China is protected. I am eager to find out whether the PLAN is up to this task now that a distant blockade is in place.
@ysfg998 @policytensor@ka_grieco Like I said, PLA needs to build up sufficient amphibious assault forces to fully occupy Japan. The same is true for Philippines except Philippines is much weaker. There isn't any permanent solution for forward bases in Philippines except ground forces occupation.
