🐌 Slow Internet? No Deal! 🏡 95% of Brits Say "No Way" to Bad Broadband!
Forget dodgy neighbours and noisy roads - a shocking new survey has revealed that Brits now care more about fast internet than almost anything else when buying a house!
That's right, 95% of us say we wouldn't even consider a house with rubbish broadband - it's officially a dealbreaker! In fact, unbelievably, more people would risk living near an airport or even on an eroding coastline than suffer through endless buffering and download delays.
Broadband expert Alex Tofts from @broadbandgenie says it's all because we're so hooked on staying connected these days.
"Whether it’s for work, watching our favourite shows or just keeping up with friends and family online, we rely on decent broadband now more than ever," he explains. "No one wants to put up with laggy video calls or downloads that take all day!"
So, before you fall head over heels for that dream home, Tofts says there are a few simple checks you need to do:
1. Do your research! 🕵️♀️ Before you even book a viewing, jump online and see what broadband deals are available at the address. You can compare providers and prices on comparison websites in minutes.
2. Check your signal! 📵 Don’t forget to check your mobile signal too. While you’re at the property, keep an eye on those signal bars and even try doing a quick speed test on your phone to see what the 4G and 5G speeds are like.
3. Don't panic if the broadband looks iffy! 😬 Even if the main broadband options are terrible, there are still a few tricks up Tofts’ sleeve. He suggests a home mobile broadband connection using 4G or 5G as a solid backup plan. And if all else fails, there's always Elon Musk's Starlink satellite service - although be warned, at £299 upfront and 75 a month, it doesn’t come cheap!
4. Shop around for smaller providers! 💰 You might be surprised at the great deals offered by smaller, local broadband companies (known as altnets). These guys often offer fantastic value for money, so they’re definitely worth a look.
The bottom line? In today's digital world, good broadband is non-negotiable. So do your homework and make sure your next dream home comes fully equipped with a lightning-fast internet connection!
@TimMcElligott4@rightmove@virginmedia Hi @TimMcElligott4 Similar to Rightmove, we work with a 3rd party to perform address checks. This data is then used to populate our comparison table with deals. If you'd be willing to share the postcode + house no. in a DM we'd be happy to look into what's happening here for you.
Did you sign up to EE and Plusnet broadband after 17th June 22? Ofcom has found BT failed to provide clear information to customers on contract terms. So, if you're unhappy with your service, this is a rare opportunity to get out of your contract early! https://t.co/LyDYEivgJ6
