Cheri says lets try this fall hiking thing again. Would you believe snow and uneventful close encounter with black bears? We might try video games instead.
Cheri asks me what I want to do today. I say it’s the first full day of fall so let’s go on a hike and see fall colors. I say let’s go see epic territorial views. We arrive at the trail head in a dense fog, drizzly, and 40 degrees. I can’t print what SHE said. 😳
Friday hike to Glacier Basin in Mt Rainier NP. It was impressive to see so many 20 somethings (mostly guys) packing skis so they can summit Mt Rainier and ski down. #getoutside
President’s Day snowshoeing with the Shoe’s (Greg and Janet). So much recent snow that the Sno Park wasn’t accessible by vehicle. Has to blaze our own path in the new two feet of powder. Think this is how the stair master exercise idea came about.
Hakuna Matata - clearing a bucket list item for Claire - our first father/daughter date in a long time. With baby due soon it could be awhile. Fun night. #lionking
Sunny and dry in Seattle in October - but some mountain trails already have compact snow and ice. And yes, that is Mt Rainier lurking in the background. #fallhiking
Lunch spot today was a top Crystal Peak with views of 5 Mtn tops (Rainier, Adams, Hood, St. Helens, and Baker). Lots of fall colors and ripe huckleberries. #retirement#everydaysaturday
Naches Peak Loop Trail that is partly on the PCT. We met two hikers who started on the PCT in Mexico five months ago and were 350 miles short of completing the whole trail. Got to admire that. #fallhasarrivedinPNW
