TODAY'S THE DAY!!! See you all soon! Safe travels to everyone. Check-in opens at 8:30, Welcome/Keynote starts at 9. UAB Hill Student Center, 3rd Floor. #Birmingham#Alabama#InfoSec#Security
Sorry, didn't get a few social posts done today that I had planned. Had some things to take care of. #IYKYK
Come out to see us on Saturday (Oct 12) at BSides #Birmingham#Alabama hacker/information security conference. More info via our Linktree in our profile. #InfoSec
What's better than lunch? FREE LUNCH!!! We always have been able to provide lunch for the conference out of our general budget, but this year @Cisco@CiscoSecurity is sponsoring lunch as well as our all day Coffee, Hot Tea, and Infused Water. Thank them when you can #Birmingham
Ever heard of #HackerTracker ? I've been using it for years, it has been so handy for some of the big conferences I attend. Well, GUESS WHAT?!? #BSidesBHAM is now in #HackerTracker ! You now have options to view our schedule, whichever works best for you. Thanks HackerTracker
To follow-up on my previous parking post, I wanted to clarify (after verifying with UAB Transportation) a couple of items:
1) Street parking is free (meters are not enforced on the weekend).
2) Parking in the garage (https://t.co/l8cvuVEOuV ) is $3 1st hr, $1 each additional hr
I'm excited to say that @Optiv is again sponsoring our lanyards! When you get your badges on Saturday, you'll receive a nice lanyard thanks to the folks at Optiv
Stopped by UAB Hill Student Center Friday to verify some details with the venue. To my surprise, the paid parking lot I've always used for the event is now the base of a building. There is a new garage open North of the HSC if you don't want to street park. #Birmingham#Infosec
@BryanLSinger Join us to hear Bryan as he unveils shifting trends in threats to critical infrastructure and real world stories and strategies from the front lines in incident response!
In addition to the wonderful lineup of speakers we have lined up (mentioned in a previous post), we are excited to announce that @BryanLSinger, a leading expert in industrial cybersecurity, will be our keynote.
I am excited to announce the list of our awesome speakers for this year!

We're going to go ahead and close out the Early Bird registration Wednesday night (Oct 2) at midnight. Tickets will still be available at a reasonable cost. Discounts for student/faculty tickets. I haven't closed out Volunteer signups yet, so free admission is still an option.
@DavLlama I was looking to see if there was a better option, but that is probably the best/easiest option at this time. Don't feel obligated, but everything we get will be put to good use! (If anyone reading this is thinking of giving several hundred dollars, let's talk other options)
The first version of the schedule has been posted. It may shift around a bit, but hopefully this is pretty close. Early bird ticket closes soon, so hop on that if you want a discount.

@wesleytb13 YES! There will be a #CTF ! Bring a laptop (will be much easier than lugging a full tower, and much more usable than a phone, especially if you have an old school flip phone with T9 text entry) and join in. It will be beginner friendly, but will ramp up.
So...the "new ticket type" I mentioned in the previous post. I decided to put a "Super Regular Ticket" on the menu. This ticket is a 'Name your price' offering, where if you want to go above and beyond, you can pay more than the minimum.
@DavLlama Doors open at 8:30, opening remarks at 9. Probably closing remarks at 4:30. THEN.... The AFTER PARTY! Sponsored by @CrowdStrike
It's a full day, but just remember I get about 3 hours sleep the night before.
@DavLlama If *anybody* needs help attending, please let me know. Like I mentioned, volunteering=free ticket, but I am willing to work out other arrangements. My goal is that everybody that wants to attend can. There's only a couple of staff that would even have access to how much you paid.
Please give me ur feedback. Maybe this is a stupid idea, but with the lack of sponsorships we've been getting the past couple of years, this could be one way to help make up for it. Regardless of what u pay, we want to see you and look forward to welcoming all to the conference!
There are ways to pay less. Early bird offers a discount, students get a discount, or volunteer for a free ticket. The point is, we want to make this accessible/affordable for all. There are options to pay less, and if you can and so desire, there are options to pay more.
