GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN.
5/31/13

[Houston Fire Dept @HoustonFire]

Our hearts were deeply moved as Harris County Commissioner @AdrianGarciaHTX honored the family of fallen HFD hero Marcelo "Ox" Garcia III. Station 23's crew stood proudly alongside Ox's family as his father's home received repairs through Precinct2gether.

Please keep Deputy Constable Sheila Jones in your prayers. Today, she ran toward gunfire and put herself in danger to protect the lives of others in downtown Houston.

She’s a 30-year law enforcement veteran, an Army veteran, and a mother. Her actions likely prevented a mass casualty event.

She wore the badge with honor, and today her courage saved lives. Thank you, Deputy Jones. Houston stands with you. #Pray4Police

Please keep these men and women in your thoughts as they bravely face this disaster.

This morning, we pay our respects to our brother, fallen firefighter Marcelo Garcia.

“So take your place of honor
Among those who have gone before
And know you will be remembered
For now and evermore”

One thing about firefighters— we know how to eat. After the procession this morning for fallen firefighter Marcelo “Ox” Garcia III, @HFDChiefMunoz and members of the command staff stopped by station 23 to break bread and grieve together.

[Thomas Muñoz @HFDChiefMunoz]

This charge is the first step in a long healing process for the firefighters of this City. I want to extend my personal gratitude to our Arson Bureau, the @houstonpolice, and the @METROHouston Police for their collaboration on this investigation.

[City of Houston @HoustonTX]

This morning, Mayor John Whitmire is paying his respects and supporting @HoustonFire
@FirefightersHOU following the line of duty death of a firefighter.
