@ridiculoustimes@atrupar Yep. Frustratingly she said that twice back-to-back, so it wasn’t merely being tongue tied; she seemed unused to the phrase. Would it have hurt her to practice, especially when the whole point was to be recorded for social media appropriate political theater of the good kind?
@elonmusk Aren’t you supposed to be rudimentarily competent with statistical math? Despite bots, the clueless, and zealots spreading claims born of basic statistical errors, the math is very clear: these numbers aren’t even vaguely an unusual outcome, & there’s no evidence for fraud.
Trump’s egregious (repeat) lie about Jan. 6 in the new NBC interview he walked out of: “They had FBI agents ushering them into the building. They had FBI: ‘Go into the building.’”
There’s precisely no evidence this happened. DOJ’s inspector general found that the FBI had zero undercover agents in the Capitol crowd. Kash Patel has himself debunked a Trump-promoted conspiracy theory on this subject, saying FBI agents were merely deployed to do crowd control after the police declared a riot.
And of the dozens of Jan. 6 defendants who tried a “the cops let me in” defense, just one (1) was acquitted. Even in that case, the acquitting judge said that though the defendant reasonably believed he was being allowed in, the officers in question were actually overrun by the crowd and standing back reasonably and responsibly, not explicitly encouraging anyone to enter. (And they weren’t FBI.)
Maybe because he literally just put an entirely unqualified political hatchet man in charge of the DNI — while we’re at war — and the only reason he could give was that he would look into the “stolen” election bullshit? He’s making hugely important decisions based on a lie. That seems worth paying attention to. He also tried to set up a compensation fund for people who, inspired by his promulgation of that lie, laid siege to the Capitol. Oh and the only legislation he cares about is all wrapped up in his delusions about how elections are stolen. I can keep coming up with reasons. But the fact that the president still thinks his lie should drive policy and personnel (several J6ers work in the administration) that makes it relevant, imho.
Members of Congress don’t swear an oath to a political party.
They swear to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic.
Two hundred seven Republicans betrayed their oath.
@RichardHanania Deeply Sinister? Pull back. Even if you regard it as wrongheaded—born of a misinformed/misguided view—that wouldn’t equal ‘sinister’. Or being calamitous—even to the point of empowering sinister forces—wouldn’t make it sinister, which req such intent.
Sanders isn’t sinister.
Re: Trump's name on govt buildings, Americans are saying "stop it" to quote Michael Jordan.
Just 9% say it's acceptable while Trump is still in office. That's less than share who say we faked the moon landing (12%).
No wonder 68% say Trump is focused on the wrong issues.
To all of those whining about artist's dropping out of the Freedom250 concert:
Ten years ago, Congress established the America 250 foundation to plan our nation's 250th birthday celebration and they've been working on it since.
Trump fired them all and set up his own Freedom 250 celebration focused only on highlighting MAGA and his accomplishments.
These artists were told they were performing at the first only to discover they would be appearing at the second.
@Me43823499@atrupar Yes because rebuilding a country—you know, the reasoning he specifically cites—especially depends on surviving military command.
Right.
It's been a long week, but after much prayer, I've decided to endorse Ken Paxton from the pulpit this Sunday. Is he a criminal, a liar and a cheat? Yes, but he has found Jesus. Meanwhile, Talarico is a bit too fond of vegetables for my liking🙏🇺🇸
Donald Trump promised to “drain the swamp”–twice! Instead of rooting out corruption, he refused to divest from his businesses, turned the presidency into a personal cash cow, and he & his family are now worth billions — while hardworking American families are getting sicker and poorer.

I’m just…. How can someone who became president, the highest achievement in the world, still be such a hollow self-loathing husk of a man?
I’d be incredibly sad if he wasnt destroying the country
Nothing to see here, just a Republican Senator accusing a Democratic Senate candidate of child sacrifice.
But, hey, don’t you dare criticize Trump as that could lead to political violence. 🤷🏽♂️
Trump has won this war 7 times.
He’s negotiated a peace settlement 12 times.
And he’s opened the Strait of Hormuz at least 4 times.
What more do you want from him?
"At the moment, the United States is negotiating with a regime that President Trump claimed we had already changed, to open a strait that was supposed to be open last month, and to end a nuclear program that we said we had obliterated."
So no, things are not going well: https://t.co/N1whNpkzAw
"I hate war as only a soldier who has lived it can, only as one who has seen its brutality, its futility, its stupidity." - General Dwight D. Eisenhower
"I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine." - General William Tecumseh Sherman
This profoundly incorrect statement inspired me to make a new graph.
This shows primary deficits from 1790-2054. The orange line shows what would happen without the Bush tax cuts, TCJA, and OBBBA.
If not for the 21st century tax cuts, we wouldn't have a fiscal gap.
Everybody knows that, before elected President of Ukraine, @ZelenskyyUa was a famous comic actor. (In fact, perhaps the most famous comic actor not only in Ukraine, but in Russia as well.) What's less known is that he has a genuinely fine sense of humor even as a war-time president. Today, he recalled Belarus strongman Lukashenka's grand-standing suggestion that "President of Ukraine should meet President of Belarus" and immideately turned to @Tsihanouskaya, who won the 2020 presidential elections in Belarus but was forced out of the country by Lukashenka's regime. That's both fine diplomacy and a genuinely light moment.
