@krassenstein@OrganicAnt This is an exceptionally dumb tweet. From an environmental perspective, it is not the sheer number of birds killed but what species of bird...if you look at that, you will see that wind turbines do create environmental stress because disproportionate #s are on top of for d chain
Ethiopia made over $55 million in the last 10 months by mining Bitcoin. The electricity would otherwise have gone to waste.
Why?
Although Ethiopia has the capacity to generate 6 Gigawatts from the new dam, Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) hasn't yet built the transmission lines to supply all that electricity generated.
So, in the meantime the dam authorities sell electricity to Bitcoin mining companies.
These electricity sales were 18% of EEPs total revenue last year, vastly improving profitability.
What do they do with that unexpected extra profit?
They fast-track the building of new transmission lines so they can get that extra electricity to people sooner.
Far from "taking renewable power away" from people, Bitcoin mining catalyzes giving it to them much faster.
The only one with no owner and born organically is Bitcoin!!! The immaculate conception! The only non-state, decentralized money chosen by the free market! The only one that follows Mises’ regression theorem! If you agree with this, retweet this post! Anyone who wants to be taken seriously in politics and actually do something about public debt and government spending must be a maximalist! #BITCOIN
The list keeps growing.

Cambridge has just released their updated report on Bitcoin mining
For the first time, their report shows that most (52.4%) of the Bitcoin network is now powered by zero emission energy sources (up from 37% in their last report)
Here's a summary of their findings👇
This chart is CRAZY🤯. Despite Bitcoin’s hash rate exploding over the years, its electricity use has barely increased. Bitcoin is way greener than the media wants you to believe.
