Welcome to the local feed of the British Trust for Ornithology in Cornwall advertising Cornish ornithology and birdwatching run by Simon Taylor (Regional Rep)
Hi, I'm Simon and I started my birdwatching journey in 2007. I consider my skills as average with a fondness for garden birds. My main birdwatching areas are Troon and the North cliffs where I monitor breeding birds. I aim to provide an inclusive learning environment for all.
One record of a double figure Iceland Gull count exists on @BirdTrack in Cornwall when 13 birds were counted at Porthgwarra in 2018. 3512 records have been uploaded for Cornwall with just over 3000 of these coming from west of the Lizard and Hayle @CBWPS1
Thrilled when this 2cy Iceland Gull flew over the road in front of us by the A30 layby at Crowlas on Saturday morning and landed in the field to the north. The better photos are by Pete!

The Coot is extremely territorial during the breeding season and fights are well worth watching when they break out. Birds will swim/run great distances to join in. The Peak count on @BirdTrack for Coot in Cornwall was in 2006 when 400+ were recorded at Loe Pool Helston @CBWPS1
