Busitema University Library emerged from the amalgamation of the collections from the 2 founding Colleges in September 2007. Today there are 6 Campus Libraries
Today I returned to my alma mater, Busitema University - Main Campus, not for ceremony but to concretize a deliberate shift in Uganda’s development architecture anchoring national transformation in science-led, locally engineered industrial capacity. The handover of the Electric Bus and commissioning of the high-capacity DC fast charging infrastructure is not symbolic; it is an operational proof-point that advanced mobility systems can be conceived, assembled, and deployed within our own institutional ecosystem. It signals a decisive break from import-dependent technological consumption toward an embedded culture of design, prototyping, and systems engineering that actively shapes our macroeconomic direction. In practical terms, it affirms that innovation is no longer peripheral to national planning but is becoming its structural core.
Through the innovation exhibition and sustained technical engagements with researchers, faculty, and students, the university is being repositioned as a production node of knowledge, not merely a repository of it, where theory is continuously stress-tested against industrial application. This academia industry interface is being deliberately tightened to accelerate translation of research into scalable technological outputs capable of anchoring a self-sustaining industrial economy. The implications extend beyond demonstration; they point to an emerging pipeline for value creation, technical skills deepening, and industrial readiness.
