50 years ago, Bob Warner, director of the @umichBentley (and later AOTUS, 1980-85) sent a letter to US Sen. Robert P. Griffin encouraging him to support @NEHgov & push back against a budget-cutting amendment. Letter found in the @Clarke_Library. @StateArchivists@HumanitiesAll
@JohnAvlon: Rep McCarthy giving T. Carlson the House's Jan6 footage is a records mgmt issue. If the records of Congress were governed like Exec. Branch records, this wouldn't have happened. Instead Congressional records mgmt is the wild west & T. Carlson gets sensitive records.

"Any and all records created by a government official are done on behalf of, in service to, and paid for by the American people."
Records of our elected leaders - even Presidents - are the people's! @JohnAvlon@StateArchivists @KDRoe122
From @JohnAvlon this AM: "As someone who deals with the National Archives, these are — these papers are the property of the American people. They're not owned privately..."
Exactly!! Archivists couldn't say it better ourselves! @archivists_org@StateArchivists @KDRoe122

Thanks @HenryLouisGates for sharing the archives love and encouraging people to #AskAnArchivist! Every day is a good day to explore what's in archives!
@KDRoe122 @archivists_org Because there is no better job than connecting someone with information they never thought they would find to help them achieve something meaningful to them.
In 6 words: Because I can change someone's life.
What about you @KDRoe122 ?
@rachel_seale @ISU_Archives I fail on the cute animals charge, but I think I make up for it in raw emotion... I love a photo of an @CMUniversity student struggling with registration in the 1970s -- the frustration on his face...well, ... we've all been there...
@rachel_seale @vincy4fish98@tanganniew @archivalflpnx @archivists_org I absolutely love the most basic outreach: talking with anyone and everyone about this stuff. Who'd think a few slides of a gas well fire in Northern #Michigan can be engaging?? Matt @ @WCMUNews thought it was a great story - https://t.co/CdjomKJXGv #AskAnArchivist
@archivists_org@ahcwyo@PDXArchives@AlabamaArchives @Chris___Burns It would probably be miserable to staff my dream collection, because of the whole pencils only thing and telling people to put the pens away, but an archives of fountain pens, ink, and writing instruments is my dream✒️
