For every woman about to say yes to a season she has never lived before. The conversations people wish they'd had sooner. Marriage. Motherhood. Family. Faith.
For every woman standing at the edge of a season she has never lived before.
Thinking, what do I need to know before I step in?
Marriage. Motherhood. Family. Faith.
We prepare for the wedding.
We prepare for the baby.
We prepare for the new season.
But we don't always prepare for who we're becoming inside it.
That's why I created Before You Begin.
This is for the woman about to say yes to something that will change everything.
This is for the couple thinking, how do we prepare for this together?
And this is for the woman already in it thinking, why did nobody tell me this before I got here?
Three women.
One conversation.
The honest one nobody had with you before you stepped in.
Not to tell you what decision to make.
But to help you understand the life that begins after it.
Because some conversations are too important to have after life changes.
They belong Before You Begin.
If any one of those three women is you, follow along.
Let's have the conversation before you need it.
We often walk into marriage believing that commitment will act as a cure.
We see the warning signs, but we convince ourselves that our love, our patience, or simply the passing of time will fix them.
But the truth is, marriage doesn’t change a person’s character; it exposes it.
Ephesians calls us to bear with one another in love, but it also calls us to walk in truth.
God's grace covers our weaknesses, but it was never meant to be an excuse to ignore destructive behavior.
Before you make a lifelong vow, you must look at the person standing in front of you—not the potential of who they could be, but the reality of who they are today.
Here is what to do instead.
One: Stop dating their potential and start acknowledging their current reality.
Two: Have a gentle but firm conversation about the specific behaviors that worry you, without softening the truth.
Three: Pay close attention to their response.
Humility and a willingness to seek counsel build a lasting foundation; defensiveness destroys it.
If they never changed, could you still peacefully spend the rest of your life with them?
Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
Before you say yes to a new season, ask yourself:
"Who will I need to become to live well in this season?"
Marriage will require a different version of you.
Motherhood will require a different version of you.
Parenthood will stretch you.
Family life will teach you.
And sometimes, the hardest part isn't what happens around you.
It's who you have to become within it.
Don't only prepare for what is coming. Prepare for who you are becoming.
Before You Begin.
If you are already a mother or a wife, I need something from you.
Think back to the version of you that was still preparing.
Still excited.
Still thinking she knew what was coming.
What is the one thing you would tell her?
Not advice.
The honest thing.
The thing you had to learn the hard way.
A woman standing exactly where you once stood is reading this right now.
Your answer is her preparation.
Drop it below.
You are about to say yes to a season that will change everything.
And everyone around you is talking about the wedding.
The nursery.
The baby shower.
The celebration.
But somewhere quietly you are asking a different question.
What do I actually need to know before I get there?
That question is why Before You Begin exists.
Follow. This is your space
Before you begin marriage, parenthood, or a new season with your family, there are conversations worth having.
Not because you can prepare for everything.
But because understanding what you're stepping into can change how you walk into it.
I'm Miriam, the creator behind Before You Begin. I wrote Before Your Baby Arrives because I wish someone had handed me this before I needed it.
Here, we talk honestly about what marriage and parenthood actually look like once the decision is made. No pretending. No perfect-life advice. No telling you what to choose.
Just honest conversations and faith-informed wisdom to help you prepare for what comes next.
If you've ever thought, "I wish someone had told me this before..."
You're in the right place.

Nobody feels completely ready.
Not for marriage. Not for parenthood.
Not for the life waiting on the other side of their biggest decision.
Ready was never the goal.
Understanding what you are stepping into is.
Before You Begin.
