Norway’s Foreign Minister H.E. Espen Barth Eide @EspenBarthEide must address the reported Pakistani aerial bombardment of Soorab, Balochistan, where more than two dozen Baloch civilians, including children and elderly people, were reportedly killed.
This is not a new phenomenon. For seven decades, the Baloch people have endured killings, enforced disappearances, displacement and other grave abuses.
Minister Eide should raise the protection of Baloch civilian lives directly with Pakistan’s authorities and demand accountability.
Silence in the face of such abuses risks becoming impunity.

H.E. Mr. Espen Barth Eide (@EspenBarthEide) must know, and must speak about the Pakistani aerial bombardment of Soorab, Balochistan, yesterday, in which more than two dozen Baloch civilians, including children and elderly people, were killed.
That this happened just one day before the Norwegian Foreign Minister’s visit to Pakistan should matter deeply to Norway and to every democratic government.
Pakistan cannot be allowed to present itself as a normal partner while its forces are bombing civilian populations in Balochistan.
This is not a new phenomenon. For seven decades, the Baloch people have endured killings, enforced disappearances, displacement and other grave abuses.
Minister Espen Barthe Eide should raise the issue of Baloch civilian lives directly with Pakistan’s authorities. Silence is impunity to criminals.

BNM Spokesperson: Pakistan Air Force Bombing in Gidar is a Blatant War Crime

The spokesperson for the Baloch National Movement (BNM) has characterized the Pakistan Air Force's bombardment of the Gidar area in Balochistan’s Surab district as a blatant war crime. Airstrikes targeting residential areas have killed more than 20 civilians, including children under ten years old, raising grave concerns over human rights and civilian safety across Balochistan.
The spokesperson emphasized that bombing civilian populations and taking innocent young lives constitute flagrant violations of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions. The Pakistan Army is not acting alone in these acts—which include indiscriminate force against civilians, home demolitions, and forced displacement—as local politicians and political parties facilitating these crimes are equally complicit.
The BNM urged the European Union and international bodies to take swift, effective action rather than remaining silent on this humanitarian crisis. Specifically, the BNM called on the EU to immediately suspend Pakistan's GSP+ status and all associated trade preferences, noting that such privileges are strictly contingent upon compliance with fundamental human rights standards.
Furthermore, the spokesperson urged international media outlets to report factual, impartial news rather than amplifying one-sided propaganda and false narratives from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). Immediate international intervention and an independent investigation by global rights organizations are critical. A failure by the international community to respond promptly will not only deepen the humanitarian disaster in Balochistan, but also undermine the credibility of global institutions.

Various reports of an airstrike/quadcopter attacks on civilians in Surab district, as reported on social media and by Balochistan-based online media outlets, are deeply disturbing. The images coming out of the area are very horrifying that show women, men and children under the rubble, disfigured bodies and some uncovered in blood.
As if enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and the criminalisation of dissent through the Fourth Schedule and collective punishment were not enough, the government and military establishment now appears to have resorted to airstrikes and quadcopter attacks against civilian populations.
My heart cries with the loss of innocent lives and pictures of children killed in the attacks shared on social media should be a matter of concern and shame for authorities. One can’t make peace with killing innocent children.
The family members of the civilians killed in the attacks are staging a sit in on main highway with 5 dead bodies of their loved ones. According to locals, two dead bodies were very disfigured and that were buried. At least 20 were injured and some bodies are still under the rubble.
I call for a full, independent, and transparent investigation into this incident. I also urge Pakistan’s civil society organizations and human rights groups to speak out against this barbarism. Silence must not allow such violence to become normalized in Balochistan.
