@TheRyleyChase@JillMarie4155@amuse Maybe I’m not understanding your point, but it seems you believe the U.S. is locked into Canadian crude or that heavy oil can only come from Canada. I know adaptations would be necessary, but the key point is that we have other sourcing options.
We wouldn’t have to switch on a dime. With tariffs, Canadian oil would simply become more expensive, not stop altogether. We’d buy less from Canada and source from other partners like Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Russia, and Colombia. We’ve only been getting most of our oil from Canada for about a decade, and America has adapted before. Reciprocal tariffs are the best way to protect American businesses. I don’t see a fairer option for trade
@JillMarie4155@TheRyleyChase@amuse It would be costly, but the U.S. has options. We can source heavy crude from Saudi Arabia, Russia, Venezuela, Mexico, and OPEC countries until we convert to domestic oil. Canada is the preferred source for obvious reasons, but in a trade war scenario, there are alternatives.
@ImMeme0 My 84 year old grandma lost most of her friends because they couldn’t understand how she could vote for Trump. They called her non-stop in 2020 to say things like “You know Joe Biden is your President right?”. Even her own sister. Leftism is a mental illness.
