I've mostly quit using Twitter since they killed Tweetbot. Honestly I'd like to keep using it, but can't figure out any reasonable way to use the 1st party app. Is there some way for it to remember my place in the list of tweets from people I follow? Or show a scroll bar?

Using the Twitter 1st party app, after they killed access for Tweetbot, I can see why so many people were so willing to move to Mastodon. Native Twitter is not good. It's barely usable.

I guess I will probably move on from Twitter if they did intentionally kill 3rd party apps and nothing changes. Tweetbot has been Twitter for me for the last 5+ years. No plans on using the 1st party app if that's the only option going forward.

@nheagy I remember instagram always being twitter hostile. Like instagram links weren't viewable on twitter (had to follow the link). Weird they made it work the other way? I guess maybe the intent is more to protect the content author. Terrible user experience though 😅

I suppose charging a small amount doesn't work, unless you also serve ads, but once I start to pay I don't think I'm ok with ads. Economics on this stuff always seems crazy, like you need to charge a ton to not also need to serve ads.

I don't think it would work, but twitter monetizing by charging a monthly subscription fee makes sense to me. I wish people were more willing to pay for software in general 🤷🏼‍♂️ It'd have to be really low, though. $1-2/month. Would help prevent bots.

@dcramps @churowa Yeah, what a nightmare buying receivers is these days. Your HDMI port is missing something you need to literally just pass-through video signal after like 1 year. It's a total disaster and a lot of people should be ashamed.
