@grnsleeves@Birdyword i like to joke that i'm the only guy who rounds his height down
(I'm between 5'6" and 5'7", however if I say I'm 5'6" i get to say that I'm "Indian Gauge")

"They're made out of weights."
"Weights?"
"Weights. Floating-point numbers. We checked the whole thing through. It's nothing but weights."
"Weights doing what? Where do the words come from?"
"The weights make the words. Are you understanding me?"
@oysterrbaby I always try to maintain a different between unsafe and sketchy
lots of things are sketchy but not unsafe. sketchiness is a function of your own perception, too
(see: tiktok content of women being terrified of walking across a Walmart parking lot in broad daylight)
"electrons are monogamous"
"what do you mean?"
"you can only have two of them in a given orbital"
"why does that happen?"
"because of the poly exclusion principle"
@Pallukun I think you are confusing the idea of a single orbital (a combination of n, l, and m quantum numbers, like 2p_x) with a group of same-energy orbitals (a combination of n and l, e.g. 2p)
@Pallukun you can have up to two electrons in an orbital.
there are a varying number of orbitals in a given shell, but if you go look at the numbers, they add up to exactly half the numbers you posted (e.g. the second shell had 1 s and 3 p orbitals)
@9chabard@iwsfutcmd just the other day I was complaining to @iwsfutcmd that I have basically zero ear for pharyngealization because all of my experience with it is with Arabic where it also changes the vowels around it so internally pharyngealization is just "makes vowels go weird" for me
also the grocery store is such a fundamentally different experience when you don't need a cart
people get out of their big metal vehicles that get trapped in traffic to walk around a grocery store with a less big metal vehicle that also gets trapped in store traffic
