New paper ALERT! Various factor models, SDFs, and MV efficient estimators now exist to cage the anomaly zoo. @Baba_Yara, Brain Boyer, and @CarterDavisFin test if 15 state-of-the-art models span or price each other. They find that no model effectively prices all other 14! 🧵1/4
I’ll explain this like you’re five:
People who spend decades researching complicated problems sometimes change their minds based on evidence.
That’s called learning.
If most experts in a field reach similar conclusions, your first question shouldn’t be, “Why are they all left-wing?” It should be, “What do they know that I don’t?”
This really isn’t the flex you think it is.
At this point, I’ve given up hope that X’s bot-reply problem is solvable. The “the part no one says” writing is annoying, but worse is that they all make similar points.
Proposal: X should measure semantic distance in latent space and surface replies that offer actual variation.
I know it sounds hype but Fable 5 and GPT 5.6 are absolute garbage compared to what’s coming this year.
2023-2024 - big jump in capabilities
2024-2025 - mid jump
2026-2027 - the biggest leap we’ve seen so far.
OpenAI has been done with GPT 6 for a couple weeks now. And plans are underway for the EoY models.
Breaking! China just made a big breakthrough in reusable rockets. For the first time, China successfully achieved the controlled recovery of a carrier rocket's first stage at sea.
The Long March-10B rocket was launched from China's Wenchang. 6 minutes after the stage separation, the first stage successfully landed on the sea-based recovery platform.
This is also the world's first net-based rocket recovery.
To celebrate the launch of GPT-5.6 Sol, we will reset the rate limits again (twice) across ChatGPT Work and Codex over the next 24 hours.
We want you to have the time to truly try ambitious tasks and get the hang of it. Happy exploring!
GPT 5.6 Sol critiqued Fable's plan, and delivered a devastating 10-page report. Fable defended his plan well, conceded some points, pointed out invented flaws in the critique.
This back and forth went on for a while, with Claude at one point suggesting:
"have GPT 5.6 write the rewritten PLAN.md from the four design documents, and hand me its draft to attack with the same ferocity."
The exchange felt like a dick-measuring contest where each model was trying to one-up the other
Fable: "Governance: I accept GPT's terms without reservation"
GPT 5.6: "So: yes, I would still work with him. No, I would not give him an unchecked mandate. His response earns continued trust, but not architectural sign-off."
At the end, they both agreed to work together. GPT 5.6 🤝 Fable
Meta just released Muse Spark 1.1 and is the new SOTA on MedScribe and TaxEval, taking the top spot from Fable 5 while being 10x cheaper and twice as fast. Meta currently holds the top 2 spots on TaxEval
It is also the new #1 on Harvey's Legal Agent Bench, dethroning Grok 4.5 less than 24 hours after it took the top spot.
Zuck: “The pricing from some of the other labs is very extreme and has very high margins. We think that there’s a real ability to be able to offer frontier or very high-level intelligence at a much more affordable cost.”
Epic pricing war breaking out among agentic models.
