This is not acceptable! Banning books doesn’t make difficult issues disappear, just more difficult.

[Mark Pace @themarkpace]

This year in Tennessee:
- Williamson County banned Walk Two Moons
- McMinn County banned Maus
- a school in Bradley County banned To Kill a Mockingbird
- Rhonda Thurman tried to ban The Hate U Give and three other books in Hamilton County

@JessieRErickson A1: Miss. Walters is a good teacher because she stood up for Hanna during the meeting and her personality is shown through her standing up for Hanna. Alekza #GRAPrairie

[OMS-7th Grade ELA @BabinecBrianne]

@JessieRErickson A1: Miss Walters is a good teacher because she supports Hanna and tries to help her and the others learn to realize that Hanna isn't different, her weakness is also Hanna because she has to support her but doing that hurts her because of the people who don't support Hanna. Conner

@JessieRErickson A2: They are all from different places and they are learning where everybody is from somewhere else. -Jaxon F.

@JessieRErickson A2: 2nd part The students couldn't believe that because an orange in LaForge is hard to come by. -Cami G.

[OMS-7th Grade ELA @BabinecBrianne]

@JessieRErickson A2: The things that the students share with their classmates is that one, Freddie lived in Chicago and there were so many trains. Hanna shared that she ate a lot of oranges because she lived in California. -Cami G.

Hearing Wonder from the author herself!! Yay!

[RJ Palacio @RJPalacio]

Teachers, parents, students: I've decided to start a daily read-aloud of WONDER! Still figuring out platform, to be announced next week, but I was thinking at 12pm every weekday: I'll read a few chapters and add a little commentary. Stay tuned for details. #WONDERreadaloud
