MAINZ, Germany — A commemorative event was organized by the Baloch National Movement (BNM) on Saturday to mark the 12th death anniversary of the veteran nationalist leader, Baba Khair Bakhsh Marri. Organized by the North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) unit of the BNM Germany Chapter, the event paid tribute to Baba Marri's life, struggle, and his everlasting contributions to the Baloch national movement. The event commenced with a two-minute silence in memory of Baloch martyrs, followed by the Baloch national anthem.Serving as the stage secretary for the event, NRW Unit Deputy Secretary Habib Baloch characterized Baba Marri as a beacon of nationalism and emphasized the importance of following his ideological guidance and unwavering commitment to the national cause.
In his address to the gathering, the Chief Guest and General Secretary of the BNM Germany Chapter, Luqman Baloch, emphasized that Baba Khair Bakhsh Marri laid the true foundations of the modern Baloch resistance movement. He specifically highlighted Baba Marri's study circle, "Haq Twar" (Voice of Truth), calling it a milestone in the ideological framework of the contemporary struggle.
He further added that Baba Marri believed in practical and organized struggle rather than mere rhetoric. In this regard, he recounted an interview where the host attempted to provoke Baba Marri into commenting on sensitive and internal matters of the movement, to which Baba Marri masterfully and wisely replied: :" I am well informed, but not an informer."
Luqman Baloch concluded his speech by stating that such steadfast principles serve as a vital benchmark for national activists. He urged them to closely study and research Baba Marri’s philosophy, life, and struggle to gain a deeper understanding of the foundational roots of the national movement.
Hammad Baloch, a member of BRP Germany, described Baba Marri as an ideological leader whose vision continues to fuel today's modern struggle, while BNM member Sher Jan Baloch stated that his lifelong sacrifices serve as an exemplary model for future generations.
Highlighting Baba Khair Bakhsh Marri's unique political standing, senior BNM activist Shae Jami remarked that despite being a traditional tribal chief (Sardar), Baba Marri always prioritized the broader national interest over tribal interests. Shae Jami paid homage to this noble mindset during the event by reciting a Balochi resistance poem.
"This country—this state of Pakistan, where Punjabis and Muhajirs claim nationhood—to which nation does it actually belong? Here, only the dictate of the powerful holds sway."
— Baba Khair Bakhsh Marri

Commemorating the 12th death anniversary of the revered Baloch nationalist leader, Baba Khair Bakhsh Marri, the spokesperson for the Baloch National Movement (BNM) paid rich tribute to his historic contributions. The spokesperson stated that Baba Khair Bakhsh Marri was a visionary leader who steered a wandering movement toward the definitive path of liberation, providing it with unbreakable foundations.
"The BNM regards his ideology as a national heritage. He showed the Baloch nation the path to survival and clearly defined its ultimate destination. Today, millions of Baloch have joined the freedom movement, inspired by his profound guidance and immense sacrifices."
The spokesperson emphasized that Baba Khair Bakhsh Marri was not merely a traditional tribal chief or a conventional politician, but a revolutionary nationalist philosopher. Through a meticulous analysis of Baloch society, alongside regional and global political dynamics, he concluded that the preservation of the Baloch national identity was impossible within the state framework of Pakistan. He realized through the repeated failed political experiments of his own and the Baloch nation that achieving national self-determination through the parliament was a distant dream—when even basic civic amenities and fundamental civil rights remained out of reach. His clarity of thought played a pivotal role in strengthening non-parliamentary nationalist politics across Balochistan.
Furthermore, the spokesperson added that Baba Marri rejected the tribal system as obsolete and envisioned a progressive, modern state for the Baloch nation—one founded on the principles of liberty, equality, and justice. He firmly opposed political, social, and economic monopolies within Balochistan, while also unequivocally resisting the imperialistic policies of global powers.
"Enduring exile and casting aside his inherited tribal authority, vast lands, and elite privileges, he chose instead to fortify the foundations of the Baloch national liberation movement. He sacrificed everything—including his own children—for the survival of his people, standing like a solid rock on his principles until his very last breath. He educated the Baloch nation on how to wage a modern, ideologically grounded, and structurally organized struggle. The political study circles he established under the banner of 'Haq Twar' (The Voice of Truth) ignited a flame of consciousness, intellectual inquiry, and decisive action across the length and breadth of Balochistan, guiding the nation toward its destination."
Concluding the statement, the spokesperson stated that Baba Khair Bakhsh Marri’s life and character offer profound lessons in patience, wisdom, and strategic clarity. He despised emotionalism, disconnected idealism, and empty rhetoric. He taught that substantive, impactful politics does not rely on superficial narratives or media propaganda, and that movements cannot survive on mere slogan-mongering without concrete action. It is this very realistic and disciplined philosophy that breathed life into Baloch resistance politics, which stands in its most formidable and resilient form today.
Zakir Majeed - 17 Years of Enforced Disappearance
Today marks 17 years since the enforced disappearance of Zakir Majeed, a prominent Baloch student leader and Vice Chairman of @BSO__AZAD who was abducted by Pakistani security forces on June 8, 2009. For 17 long years, his family has waited for answers, justice, and his safe return. Yet, like thousands of other Baloch missing persons, Zakir remains a victim of a systematic policy of enforced disappearances in Balochistan.
Seventeen years is not just a measure of time, it is 17 years of pain, uncertainty, and suffering for his loved ones. His disappearance stands as a symbol of the ongoing human rights crisis in Balochistan, where families continue to search for their missing sons, brothers, fathers, and daughters.
The international community, human rights organizations, and democratic governments must break their silence and hold Pakistan accountable for these grave violations.

Pakistan Army Kills 17 in Balochistan Within Three Days; International Silence Worsening the Crisis – BNM Spokesperson

The Pakistan Army is indiscriminately targeting unarmed civilians in Balochistan, and the silence of the international community has drastically exacerbated the region's multifaceted human rights crisis. In this week alone, 17 individuals have been extrajudicially killed. Enforced disappearances are occurring on a daily basis in the peripheral areas of Mastung, Noshkai, Zehri, Khuzdar, Kech, and Gwader districts, alongside the relentless shelling of civilian populations by gunship helicopters. The Baloch National Movement (BNM) strongly condemns this state terrorism. Pakistan is committing a systematic genocide of the Baloch nation, making international intervention an absolute necessity.

Mashkai Under Severe Curfew, People Trapped Under Military Siege: BNM Spokesperson
Tuesday, June 2, 2026 | #BNMSpokesperson | #MashkaiUnderSiege
https://t.co/cT182jNpxk
Spokesperson of the Baloch National Movement stated that a strict curfew has been imposed in the Mashkai area of Awaran for the past two weeks.
He said that markets, shops, hospitals, and educational institutions remain closed. People in both small and large villages are confined to their homes under a military siege and are unable to go out for their daily agricultural work, including fields and orchards.
The spokesperson added that in Gajjar and other small bazaars, the military occasionally allows limited opening for only one hour a day under its supervision. During this short window, only nearby residents are able to purchase essential food supplies, while people from distant villages remain deprived and face severe difficulties in accessing basic necessities.
He further said that even during the recent Eid, people were not allowed to leave their homes for essential shopping or Eid-related purchases. Due to strict restrictions, most families were unable to perform animal sacrifice during Eid al-Adha. The Pakistani military summons residents of small towns and villages to military camps in the morning and keeps them detained until evening, where they are subjected to mental and physical torture.
The spokesperson stated that last year alone, more than twenty people in Mashkai were killed by the Pakistani military after being called to camps or taken into custody and subjected to torture. This year as well, several individuals have been arrested and killed after detention. He further said that the brutality of the Pakistani state has reached a level where, after arresting and killing individuals, their bodies are desecrated, and in some cases, burned in an attempt to destroy evidence and spread fear.
The Baloch National Movement warns international human rights organizations that if they fail to take notice of the undeclared curfew in Mashkai and other areas of Balochistan, the ongoing humanitarian crisis will further worsen.
The BNM also appeals to Baloch political and human rights activists to raise their voices on social media using the hashtag #MashkaiUnderSiege in order to highlight the situation and bring global attention to the crisis.
