@lawalker71 yeah, all joking aside, I cannot imagine how stressful this event is/was for an incredible amount of people - and the incredible amount of invisible work that happened to get things back on track.
The result of two years of collaboration between staff from multiple agencies and in collaboration with community partners, laying out key strategies and actions for addressing extreme heat.
Today, @GovKathyHochul announced finalization of the statewide Extreme Heat Action Plan. Led by DEC & @NYSERDA, the plan includes State actions to help New Yorkers adapt to extreme heat + address impacts on disadvantaged communities & those with increased risk of health impacts.
As we brace for more #climate-driven extreme storms, @GovKathyHochul’s new resiliency proposals protect our communities & provide new resources for property owners, DEC, & our partners to implement necessary solutions for NYers most vulnerable to flooding. https://t.co/oZdbI2xBkM
Every borough now has free bus routes! The #NYSAssemblyMajority secured funding to create these free routes to support commuting New Yorkers and make traveling easier for everyone.
This suite of Hurricane Threats & Impacts (#HTI) graphics spans Monday morning through Wednesday evening for #Idalia. These graphics show a 4-tier threat level from the 4 primary hurricane hazards and are designed to take the focus away from the track and put it on the impacts.
Very excited to be vacationing by visiting family back home in AT!
Also glad that the current heat wave appears to be dissipating with my arrival. Also looking forward to connecting with some dear colleagues to learn from what they are doing in the EU to address #extremeheat
Competing historic Heat domes across the Atlantic. As intense as the US dome is, France may have it beat on the ground, with dozens and dozens of all time records today. It’s not coincidence, it’s climate change.
Don't get me wrong, I very much enjoy what I do for a living, but sitting on the floor with my guitar and playing with my new loop pedal all day sounds like so much fun right now...

Increasing confidence for heat to return to eastern NY & western New England Wednesday to Friday with potential for lower elevations to reach heat advisory criteria. This means the heat index or the "feel-like temperature" may be at or above 95F. #nywx#vtwx#mawx#ctwx

Phoenix, Arizona, and Miami, Florida, are simultaneously having their worst heatwaves in city history.
Phoenix just had its hottest night in recorded history, only dipping to 97°F, and has seen a record-smashing 20 consecutive days of 110°F+ heat.
Miami has seen 38 straight days of 100°F+ heat indices and counting, obliterating the previous record of 32 days.
All indications point towards these brutal heatwaves, with unprecedented intensity and longevity, continuing in Phoenix and Miami for at least the next 7 days.
Update on the multiple ocean heat waves... And make sure you Wait for It. Global oceans reached 21C today (~70F) that's 1.4F above norm & .5F above record. North Atlantic even more impressive at 2.5F above norm & 1.4F above record! The new winner: the NW Atlantic spots at +14F
What we define as extreme heat is increasing fast. These images compare the Northern Hemisphere Land Temp anomalies in summer. Left: 1951-1980 and right: 2010-2020. The bell curve center has now shifted 2 deviations warmer exposing us dramatically more to extreme (dark red) 1/
