As AI models get better, cheaper and more widely available, we believe one of the biggest moats will be the proprietary data created by actually doing the work.

Today, we’re announcing a $42M Series B led by @insightpartners for @backopsai, just six months after our $26M Series A.

We’re building the intelligence and resolution layer for companies that make and move physical goods.

These companies still rely on people to connect ERPs, WMSs, TMSs, carrier portals, email, spreadsheets, customers and suppliers. BackOps sits across that ecosystem, gathers context, makes decisions, takes action and carries work through to resolution.

Since our Series A, one customer alone has processed 500K+ claims through BackOps. As volume grew 150x, automated resolution improved from 87% to 99%.

Another took a process that averaged 28 hours and brought it down to 14 minutes.

But what we’ve learned over the last six months is that the resolution itself may only be the beginning.

Every time BackOps completes work, it creates proprietary data around the context, decisions, actions and outcomes behind it.

At scale, that means understanding where processes break, why they break, which actions produce the best outcomes and how those processes should improve.

And that gets much more interesting as BackOps expands across an ecosystem.

If BackOps operates across a large grocer and the manufacturers, suppliers, distributors and carriers around it, we don’t just understand one company’s workflow. We begin to understand how work moves between them: where problems originate, how they cascade through the network and what actually resolves them.

Every additional process makes that intelligence stronger. And every additional company makes the network more valuable.

That’s the flywheel we’re building.

Our customers shouldn’t just automate more work. They should run on an operational intelligence layer that gets better as they use it and stronger as the network around them grows.

And next month, we’re launching something that unlocks a much bigger part of this vision.

Looking for former founders who want to run with extremely high autonomy and build something very exciting inside of BackOps. DM me if interested

LangSmith for Startups Spotlight: @Backopsai

✅ An AI-native resolution layer for supply chain and complex operations.

✅ Their agents handle operational workflows end to end: filing claims, reading emails, and updating systems like a top ops manager rather than a fragile script.

✅ Uses LangSmith for end-to-end workflow tracing, monitoring, and experimentation tools for their multi-step agent runs, helping them run evaluators and track performance metrics to catch regressions, before customers ever notice.

BackOps is hiring. Check out their open roles at https://t.co/VOGG5uwFSL.

I came into the venture ecosystem as a complete outsider. To get up to speed, I read books, took online courses, talked to founders, and listened to every startup podcast I could find. The one I came back to most was The Product Market Fit Show with @pablosrugo.

So when Pablo reached out about having me on as a guest, it was a full-circle moment. We covered a lot of ground, from inception to some of the most exciting times in the business today. Hopefully there's something in there worth taking with you, whether you're building your own thing or just want to hear how it's gone so far.

Give it a listen and let me know what you think!

@samdblond threw an epic event last night with @MonacoGTM. He is writing the playbook on a new GTM motion selling to AI companies. Sam you are building something special, and I am proud that @Backopsai has been able to be there from the early days.

Last week @Backopsai announced our Series A, and I thought it’d be fun to show how the launch video came together.

The concept was to show a world where everything goes right. Everything’s humming, operations running smoothly, not a single fire to put out. Then, just kidding. Because that’s not how it works. The back offices behind global supply chains are powered by people manually chasing exceptions, filing claims, and solving complex problems every day.

And every company has the one or two people who hold it all together. The ones everyone goes to. But right now, they’re buried in the manual work instead of driving the improvements only they can see. We built BackOps to give them that time back. We capture how they work, turn it into AI-driven processes, and let them do what they were actually hired to do. Instead of knowledge living in silos, our process center brings teams across the organization onto the same page for the first time. Where they’re improving operations, not just surviving them.

We’re just getting started, and we need great people to build what’s next.
We’re hiring across every team. Come build with us!

@Cdpetty @GradientVC We have loved working alongside the Gradient team!

[Sean McCarthy @seanmcccarthy]

Today, I'm announcing BackOps' $26M Series A led by @Theoryvc, alongside @constructcap, @GradientVC, and 10vc.

Over the last year and a half, we have worked with some of the world's leading manufacturers, grocers, distributors, and logistics platforms. What we've seen has only deepened our conviction.

The back offices that power global supply chains are held together by people manually chasing exceptions, filing claims, reconciling data across disconnected systems, and solving the same problems over and over again. These teams are incredible operators. But they're drowning in work that's beneath their expertise, spending their days on it because there was never an alternative. Until now.

Something we found most interesting is that the knowledge of how to actually do this work lives inside people's heads. It's not well documented. Many of these processes haven't been meaningfully changed in years, not because they work well, but because no one has been able to see them clearly enough to improve them. The expertise is real, but it's trapped. Impossible to replicate, hard to scale, and invisible to analysis.

We built BackOps to change that. We've made it easier than ever to capture how your best operators actually work, then turn it into AI-driven processes that execute on their own. And for the first time, your team can actually see these processes, work together to improve them, and continuously streamline operations that used to be invisible.

The results have spoken for themselves. Processes that used to take days are resolved in minutes, with better accuracy than manual workflows. We're not replacing teams, we're giving them leverage they've never had before, and for the first time, visibility into operations that were previously a black box.

This raise lets us do more of what's already working. Our customers are seeing what happens when operational knowledge isn't trapped anymore. We're just scratching the surface of what's possible when you treat back-office operations as an AI problem, not a people problem.

To our customers, investors, and every person on the BackOps team, thank you. This is just the beginning.

We're hiring. If you want to work on problems that truly matter, come build with us.

Thank you to @axios and Natalie Breymeyer for covering our story. Link in the comments below.

Introducing Dock, the first AI built solely for operations and support teams.

Dock is the first-of-its-kind, purpose-built to live inside your inbox, connect to your internal systems, and do the heavy lifting for you.
What used to take minutes now takes seconds.

Meet Dock.

[BackOps AI @Backopsai]

@ThisIsDynamo Thanks for the mention Dynamo team!

[Sean McCarthy @seanmcccarthy]

🚨 Introducing Dock
The AI copilot built to work where your team already communicates.

Logistics still runs through inboxes, chats, and tickets, but that doesn’t mean your team should be stuck copy-pasting, chasing down orders, or answering the same questions over and over.

When you open a message, Dock goes to work, pulling the info you need and teeing up a response, so you stay in control without the manual search.

Dock can pull order details, tracking updates, delivery exceptions, invoice status, customer history, whatever you’d normally have to dig through your WMS, OMS, or other systems to find, so you can respond with confidence in seconds.

Dock also ties into the broader BackOps platform, allowing you to go beyond responses and automate entire workflows from updating systems to executing SOPs with Relay.

You can self-onboard in minutes with nearly 100 systems supported out of the box, and for the next 30 days, Dock is completely free. No credit card. No commitment. Just results.
