Rivers State Commissioner of Police has been actively stepping out on inspection tours of checkpoints and highways.

Earlier today, CP Adepoju led a team on a statewide monitoring exercise along major routes, including the East-West Road corridor (Ikwerre and Emohua LGAs) and areas near the Rivers-Imo boundary.

He was accompanied by senior officers: Deputy CP (State CID), Assistant CP (Operations), Mobile Police Squadron Commanders, tactical unit heads, and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs).

The Purpose of the Operation is to Enforce the Inspector-General of Police (IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu) directive against:

1. Unauthorized roadblocks that obstruct traffic.
2. Extortion of motorists.
3. Officers not properly dressed or without visible name tags.
4. Officers must carry out stop-and-search professionally without blocking roads.

He personally ordered the dismantling of illegal roadblocks encountered during the tour.

Compliance was noted as improving due to ongoing monitoring.
