Despite the prolonged winter/spring flooding we are pleased to say it has been another productive season for our breeding Curlew (27 fledged young seen). The last few have taken to the wing over recent days having benefitted from the late hay cut and liaison with the landowners.

A full survey of the site last night/this morning produced a total of 13 singing Spotted Crakes (likely to have been in for 4-5 days based on calling behaviour). Best listened for from Pool/Swantail Hide between 21:30-04:30, although one was also heard from the Wheldrake bridge.
