Based on verification of images, reports and comparative investigative analysis by the International Centre for Human Rights, to date approximately 43,000 people have been killed, 350,000 injured, 20,000 arrested and await possible execution.
“Taken together, ICHR believes that this body of evidence, methods, and data presents a clear picture of a systematic and organized campaign of repression and mass killing; one that may silence the streets in the short term, but will not resolve the underlying crisis.
Silence by the international community in the face of such violent repression and crimes against humanity will only enable the repetition and escalation of these atrocities.”

Baha’i Couple Remain in Detention in Shiraz Three Weeks after Arrest
It was learned on 20 April 2026 that Mrs. Romina Khazali and Mr. Behzad Yazdani, a Baha’i couple remain in detention in Shiraz three weeks after their arrest.
The couple has been held without access to family visits since their arrest, and repeated inquiries by relatives with the authorities have not resulted in any clarification about their situation.
Mrs. Khazali and Mr. Yazdani, who have two school-aged children, were arrested separately on 28 and 29 March 2026, by intelligence agents affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) at their home in Shiraz. During a search of the residence, authorities confiscated electronic devices, including mobile phones, laptop and tablet, which have not been returned.
The confiscation of these devices has disrupted the children’s education, while sources close to the family have raised concerns about their psychological well-being following the simultaneous detention of both parents.
As of the time of writing, no information has been made available regarding the reasons for the arrests, or the nature of any charges filed against them, or the couple’s legal status.
Authorities have not issued any official statement regarding their case.

Romina Khazali and Behzad Yazdani Remain in Legal Limbo in Shiraz Prison Amid Health Concerns
It was learned on 6 April 2026 that Mrs. Romina Khazali and her husband, Mr. Behzad Yazdani, a Baha’i couple detained in Shiraz, remain in custody at Adelabad Prison more than a week after their arrest with no official information available regarding the nature of any charges against them or their legal status.
Mrs. Khazali, an artist, and Mr. Yazdani, a translator and editor, were arrested at their home in Shiraz by intelligence agents on 28 and 29 March this year.
Mrs. Khazali is in poor health. She had recently undergone stomach surgery prior to her arrest and suffers from severe migraines, eye pressure, and chronic back pain. Over the past week, she has been permitted only a single brief phone call with her family. Authorities have denied further contact and visits, while also withholding information about her current condition, heightening concerns for her welfare among her family.
Mrs. Khazali was also the primary caregiver for her elderly parents, whose physical and emotional condition has deteriorated since her detention. The couple’s two teenage children are experiencing significant distress in the absence of their parents. In addition, the confiscation of the family’s electronic devices at the time of arrest has severely disrupted the children’s online education, which they had been pursuing under wartime conditions.
The closure of the Revolutionary Court in Shiraz has prevented the family from pursuing legal follow-up or obtaining updates on the case.

Roya Sabet, a #Bahai prisoner held in Adelabad Prison in #Shiraz, after a long period without contact, informed her family in a brief phone call about the deteriorating conditions of detainees and the worsening inhumane situation in the prison. According to her, conditions in the ward—which had already been facing serious problems—have significantly worsened since the start of the war.
Sabet identified severe overcrowding as one of the most critical issues, stating that 49 prisoners are currently being held in a small room. Prisoners spend the entire day in this confined space and are also deprived of access to fresh air or outdoor time—conditions that have heightened concerns about their health and basic rights.
