This video is both heartbreaking and life-inspiring.
A film crew tries to film the destruction caused by US/Israeli bombing at an apartment complex in Iran. One of the tenants, an old man whose apartment has been almost completely shattered, insists on inviting the film crew in and offering them something to eat.
"We have only come to film, we don't want anything," the crew says.
But the old man insists on at least offering them oranges and apples.
Ultimately, those who come out victorious from conflicts are those who retain their dignity. Who never let war make them lose their humanity and self-respect.
Who, even in the worst of situations, insist on upholding sacred traditions and beliefs, including that of hospitality.
That's what makes a civilization indestructible.
Please remember this video and do your best to forget the videos of the lost souls dancing and cheering on the streets when their countrymen, women, and children were being killed by "democracy and freedom" bombs.
Apocalyptic scenes in Lebanon’s capital right now.
Israel has launched 100 airstrikes on Lebanon in 10 minutes.
Striking South Lebanon, Beirut and the Bekaa Valley simultaneously.
This isn’t a ceasefire.
It’s mass bombardment of civilian areas.
Academic friends,
A few of us drafted an open letter calling for protection of civilians & of educational, research, medical & cultural institutions; and for practical support for students and scholars.

Last night, US/Israeli strikes bombed Sharif University, my alma mater, heavily damaging the IT Center, Philosophy of Science building, EE, mosque, and more. Trump spoke of sending Iran “back to the Stone Age” That is the goal of this war. History shows that it could never happen
Reports are coming in that people in Mahshahr cannot breathe due to the chemical pollution caused by the US and Israeli bombardment of the petrochemical factories there.
I knew Dr. Kamal Kharazi from my time in cognitive science. He has a PhD in industrial psychology from the University of Houston, and he used his connections to build something like an NIH for cognitive science in Iran — funding research, founding institutes.
Today, his home was bombed. His wife was killed. He is critically injured.
Either this was indiscriminate — bombing residential neighborhoods — which is terrifying.
Or it was targeted — assassinating an 80-year-old academic-diplomat in his home — which is also terrifying.
There is no good version of this story.
And now I'm thinking about my other colleagues still in Iran.
Israel's goal in this war is to ensure that Iran becomes a failed state. Complete state collapse.
Since Trump has no plan of his own, by default he is following Israel's lead.
Hence Trump's comments about bombing Iran back to the stone age...
This is something I have been worrying a lot about. We have psychopaths waging this war. We have seen Netanyahu gleefully carry out a genocide in Gaza reducing it to a nuclear bomb site. Why would he not go further now in Iran? There has been absolutely no consequences for his war crimes in Gaza. Trump has only assisted them. This has got to stop. As the citizens of the world we have to stop this. They can not be allowed to carry out a nuclear strike on the millions of innocent people of Iran. These are our fellow human beings, regardless of their leaders. This is insanity.
Today I received a note from a grad student who lives in Tehran. Her note gives you a firsthand experience of what it’s like to live in a city that is being bombed, and what it’s like to be young and feel despair about your future.

Kharg Island isn't just a military target
It is home to a medieval Portuguese fort, religious tombs, and the ruins of one of the oldest Christian monasteries in the world
It also is home to 8,000 people and flocks of wild gazelles
This is what Trump just bombed:
