At the Media Editors’ Engagement hosted by @IraUganda, our Business Manager, Christopher Bakesiga, delivered an insightful presentation on Understanding the Insurance Cycle—from underwriting to claims—and the critical role of brokers within the industry value chain.
He highlighted that insurance brokers act as trusted intermediaries between clients and insurers, guiding policyholders through every stage of the insurance process.
“From helping clients identify and assess risks before policy placement, to advising on appropriate covers during underwriting, brokers ensure clients receive the most suitable protection”
He further noted that they support clients in accessing insurers, assist with documentation and policy interpretation, and remain actively involved during claims by facilitating notification, follow-up, and settlement processes.
Importantly, he emphasized that brokers work in the best interest of the client at no additional cost, ensuring that policyholders receive independent advice, fair guidance, and optimal insurance solutions without paying extra for their services.
In essence, brokers bridge the gap between insurers and clients, promoting transparency, efficiency, and confidence across the insurance value chain.

Glad to add my voice at the Insurance Media Workshop. Brokers play a central role in risk advisory and client support, and it’s time that story is told more widely.👏👏
Speaking at the #InsuranceMediaWorkshop2025, our Business Manager @BakesigaChris emphasized the critical role of brokers as risk advisors.
He noted that insurance brokers are more than intermediaries, they help clients access tailor-made insurance solutions that meet their unique needs. He emphasized that the broker’s role involves guiding clients through every stage of their insurance journey, helping them understand risk and get the most out of their premiums.
Bakesiga also highlighted that brokers’ contributions are often overlooked in public discourse and urged the media to take a more active role in showcasing the value they bring to the industry.
He reaffirmed IBAU’s commitment to raising awareness about the broker’s role and ensuring that client experience and service excellence remain at the heart of insurance delivery.

Greetings Friends
I am filled with immense pride and gratitude for the journey we have undertaken together. It is a moment for reflection, celebration, and setting the stage for a promising future in our industry.
2024 has been a year of both challenges and remarkable achievements for the insurance brokerage industry in Uganda. As intermediaries who bridge the gap between insurers and clients, our role continues to be indispensable in fostering trust, professionalism, and innovation in the insurance sector.
As we grow, we continue to engage the regulator and policymakers to ensure the voice of brokers is heard in decisions that shape our sector when it comes to advocacy and policy engagement.
Through various training sessions, we shall continue to empower our members with new skills and knowledge, ensuring they remain competitive and compliant with global best practices.
Through public awareness, we shall continue to educate the public about the importance of insurance, and the role brokers play in offering tailor-made solutions to their needs.
As we do this, we have to be mindful of the hurdles in our way like economic uncertainties, trust and awareness amongst the public, disruption etc.
As we roll into 2025, we shall continue focusing on our priorities like strengthening collaboration with stakeholders, expanding access to markets, enhancing professional standards, improving on customer experience, providing assistance to our members when called upon etc.
On behalf of the Board, we extend our heartfelt thanks to all members, our secretariat, and our partners for their unwavering support and commitment.
As we bid farewell to this year, let us celebrate how far we have come and remain optimistic about the opportunities ahead.
Together, we can build a more vibrant, inclusive, and resilient insurance brokerage industry in Uganda.
I wish you all a joyous holiday season and a prosperous New Year. Let us return in 2025 with renewed energy to achieve even greater milestones.
Thank you, and may God bless you all.

@EBarusha@DailyMonitor@The_UIA@pwatchug I think those that consume Insurance know it works. Including our dear legislators. Maybe we should task them to use that very figure and explain to their constituents the benefits of Insurance.
