Our 13 Tonne gantry crane arrived this week. The new zealand workshops bay 1 is coming together over the last few weeks thanks to the efforts of our team. We have been investing heavily into capability to meet the growing demand for gas turbines that support AI infrastructure.
Yesterday's LM2500 rotor tip grind video showed one half of the equation. At the same time, the Stage 2 nozzle turbine shrouds were being ground to achieve final clearances. We planned to use our new VTC, but commissioning wasn't finished in time. #LM2500#gasturbines#MRO
Every thousandth of an inch matters. LM2500 HPT rotor blade tip grinding underway, matching blade tips to Stage 2 turbine shrouds to achieve the desired clearance. Precision work that directly impacts performance, efficiency and reliability.โจ#LM2500#MRO#gasturbines
#LM2500 Gas Turbine HPT rotor being ground to match the turbine shrouds with desire blade clearance. New manufacture blades were allocated to this HPT rotor for the engine overhaul. #gasturbine#AI
F1 pit stop, gas turbine style.
After operating in a harsh environment, a customer's LM2500 needed urgent repairs. In ~30 days we completed field support, key bearing replacements, repairs, testing and dispatch. Proud of the entire team that made it happen.

Vertical turning center installed with 1.8 meter Z axis for #LM2500 stator case grinding. Siemens sinumerik Retrofit also completed on the old girl. VTC up and running in 6 months instead of waiting 2 years for a new one to be manufactured.
@elonmusk eager to discuss your gas turbine supply chain theory. Im friends with one of your former tesla engineers that helped speed up factory production in 2020. https://t.co/n9BjaTm8CY or https://t.co/AdEjbLsQSD
@elonmusk from my experience as a gas turbine overhaul entrepreneur we can get blades and vanes reliably in 4 months from PMA suppliers. items with no PMA supply such as turbine shrouds and shroud supports, or disks & shaft are the real challengeโฆ.

@MarkJCarney Will it be invested toward weapons and equipment Made in USA? Go shopping at Boeing, Northrop Grumman, General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, RTX Corporation all the major mfrs. could this be one of Trumps tariff levers? USA redact tariffs if Canada buys USA millitary equipment?
@GrantCardone Also USA is the leader of capitalism. If im a local supplier and my competition just got a 25% disadvantage, i now have a lever where I can increase my prices to slightly below what my competition now charge and make more profit.
@GrantCardone That is true. Penalising global competition means local companies have advantage.
However as it costs locals more to deliver the same product to compete (they needed the tariff equaliser to help compete). The consumer will have to pay the higher price from both local & import.
@moraltreason@elonmusk In 2023 the USA had 63 billion trade surplus when energy is excluded.
Canada 40mil population, USA 340mil population. This means 40 million Canadians purchase 63billion more from USA than 340 mil Americans purchased from Canada.
USA were already winning by 63 billion.

@elonmusk@elonmusk where do NIH get the their 60% data? Harvardโs 2024 financial reports are showing only 27% for indirect costs from federal endowment?
@elonmusk The university are taking excessive.
Overall though there is alot of high performing research facilities in usa to keep avg indirect costs to 26%. When most private co. Spend 15-30% on indirect costs on average.
@NIH Pretty easy to manipulate the accounting. If i was organisation accountant. Yesterday i had 5% included in my indirect costs as depreciation. Tomorrow i charge 5% as equipment rental for project. I will spend every dollar the government allocates to me. Just change my reporting.
@NIH Universitys using 60% of funding for indirect costs is a joke.
However $9B is 26% of $35B.
A private company avg. Gross Profit Margin is 30%-35%, EBITDA 5-15%. Private co. will spend 15%-30% on indirect costs on avg, without depreciation.Asset depreciation is also indirect cost.
