Saghir Baloch and Iqrar Baloch: Two Family Members Lost to Enforced Disappearance
During a heartfelt demonstration outside the Quetta Press Club this Eid, the sister of Saghir Baloch, who has been forcibly disappeared, urgently called on the state for justice and the safe return of her brother.
With deep emotion, she expressed her family's pain, stating, Here I am, a desperate sister standing before the Press Club, imploring human rights organizations to help bring my brother home. If he has violated any laws, he deserves to face a court.
She raised a poignant question: if the state has laws and a judicial system, why hasn’t her brother been presented to them? "What purpose do your laws serve? Why do courts exist? Why is my brother not before the court today? If he’s truly at fault, show him in court. But you know he is innocent."
Her plea didn’t stop there; she highlighted that her family is not isolated in their grief, as countless Baloch families are also enduring the agony of waiting for their missing loved ones. "It’s not just me; hundreds of families are longing for the return of their cherished ones. Many mothers, sisters, and children are asking for justice. Our singular request to the state is clear: if our loved ones have done wrong, let them be presented in court and dealt with accordingly."
Saghir Baloch’s sister passionately underscored the anguish caused by enforced disappearances, calling on authorities to uphold the rule of law and ensure that all detainees are brought before the courts.

We Thank the UN Committee Against Torture for Highlighting Ongoing Rights Violations
The UN Committee against Torture (CAT) raises concerns about the detention of Dr. Mahrang Baloch, along with former Prime Minister Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, Idris Khattak, and Ali Wazir.
The Committee also expressed concern over the denial of medical care to detained rights activists and political figures. The UN Committee against Torture (CAT) on May 1st issued its findings on Pakistan after reviewing the States Parties in its latest session.
The Committee’s findings confirmed what we have long said: arbitrary detention, reprisals, and abuse against dissenting voices must end.
The Committee further highlighted reports of torture, enforced disappearances, and retaliation against human rights defenders, journalists, and critics of the government.
We join CAT in calling on the Government of Pakistan to end these violations, review the cases of all those detained or imprisoned on political grounds or in retaliation for their work, ensure access to adequate medical care in detention, and guarantee fair trials.

Silencing the individuals for speaking the truth has become a norm in Pakistan. When courageous voices like Imaan @ImaanZHazir and Hadi @AdvHadiali raise questions against injustice, harassment, and oppression, they are met with intimidation, abuse, and smear campaigns instead of answers.
Standing with them, is about standing for dignity, freedom of expression, and the right to speak without fear.

We are deeply concerned by reports that Baloch WHRD Sammi Deen Baloch @SammiBaluch - 2024 @FrontlineHRD award winner - has been arrested by Karachi police and taken to an unknown location.
We call for her immediate release and an end to reprisals against Baloch HRDs.
Protest and Ongoing Sit-in in Kech Enter Third Day
Today, a rally was held in Turbat, Kech, to protest against the brutal crackdown on the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) and the arrest of its organizer, Dr. Mahrang Baloch. Protesters raised their voices against state repression, enforced disappearances, and the violent dispersal of peaceful demonstrators in Quetta.
Meanwhile, the sit-in camp in Kech has entered its third day, with protesters continuing their demonstration despite threats and intimidation.

Leaders of the Baloch Yakjehti (Solidarity) Committee (BYC), including Sami Deen Baloch and Abdul Wahab Baloch, were unlawfully arrested, along with several women and civil society members in Karachi while peacefully protesting against the illegal detention of BYC leaders, Dr. Mahrang Baloch, and others in Quetta. The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) of the Sindh government and its law enforcement agencies violated their rights to peaceful assembly and freedom of expression.
The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan and Civil Society Karachi condemn these unjust arrests and demand the immediate release of those detained.

Unite, for they will never show us mercy.
— Dr. Mahrang Baloch
Look at the magnitude of hatred. The phrase "Long Live Pakistan" was also inscribed on their bodies.
But they could not scare this nation; we have overcome this fear. They can never show us mercy. This is not bad luck but rather a war between the oppressor and the oppressed. The war that Pakistan has waged will continue until the Baloch themselves become part of that war.
Those youths were killed who were protesting for their national language. Similarly, on December 21st, when your women's trousers were pulled, this day must be remembered. When your women's courage was so strong, they pulled women's scarves; these shameless touched their pants.
Be united
Look at this nation, this unfortunate nation is the same nation that disrespected the women of Bengalis. They can never have mercy on us.

PAKISTAN: More than 38 hours since Mahrang Baloch's unlawful detention, she is still being denied access to her lawyers and family. There are also worrying reports of continued arbitrary arrests and detentions across Balochistan province.
Pakistani authorities must immediately release Mahrang Baloch and all others being detained for exercising their right to peaceful protest, and refrain from implicating Baloch activists in frivolous cases to unlawfully prolong their detention.
A visit to Hudda Jail today reminded me of painful memory from childhood when I stood at the same place to see my father behind bars. 18-years ago, it was my father. It is my sister today. Back then, @MahrangBaloch_ was by our side but today, NO! We weren’t allowed to meet her.
In Quetta, lawyers gathered at the Quetta Press Club for a conference addressing the unlawful arrests of Dr. Mahrang Baloch and others
During the conference, senior advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan Khalid Kubdani spoke to the media, expressing support for Dr. Mahrang Baloch, the Baloch Yakjehti ( Solidarity) Committee leader, and calling for her release. He emphasized the importance of protecting the rights of peaceful protesters and raised concerns about the actions of state law enforcement agencies against BYC protests in Quetta.
He stated that I vehemently condemned Dr. Mahrang and the Baloch Yakjehti ( Solidarity) Committee members being arrested for violating family honour and privacy. You have also arrested such disabled people as Beberg, who is unable to walk and move around and is in a wheelchair. The government should be ashamed of his arrest.
Our advocate Supreme Court Shakar Bibi's two sisters are officers; they went to see the bodies. All the people of her family and others who have been forcibly disappeared. If the heirs do not protest, what should they do? Our constitution guarantees this freedom, and you can not take away this freedom.
When you drop a dead body, I say, you will kill even the baby of an animal. You must have seen on social media that a camel whose baby had passed away goes to it and expresses love. Can't we humans go and identify the dead bodies of our sisters, brothers, husbands, and sons?
If this is a sin, then amend your law. At least, do not take away the freedom of the people, as this law says. I am saying this because a dictator like Musharraf had said that the constitution is a piece of paper. If the constitution is a piece of paper, you also have no status.

Balochistan is bleeding
Recent events in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan, have raised serious concerns about the treatment of peaceful protesters by Pakistani security forces. During a peaceful sit-in organized by the Baloch Yakjehthi (Solidarity) Committee, which seeks justice for individuals unlawfully detained by state security, reports emerged of indiscriminate firing by the forces. Tragically, three protesters lost their lives, while seven others sustained serious injuries. There have been multiple reports of mass arrests, baton charges directed at women and children, and the use of heavy shelling. Communication blackouts have further exacerbated the situation in the city.
The Baloch Yakjehthi (Solidarity) Committee is steadfastly continuing its sit-in alongside the bodies of those who were martyred. The BYC urges the public to join their peaceful sit-in, calling for justice and raising their voice against the ongoing state repression and acts of violence in Balochistan.

Media personnel have been reaching out to me about this news, and I can confirm that it is true. I am deeply honored by this nomination, but it is not about me. It is about the thousands of Baloch who have been forcibly disappeared and the families demanding justice. The fight for human rights in Balochistan must not be ignored by global civil society and civilised nations.
They kill scholars, they fear thinkers. Allah Dad. an M. Phil scholar at QAU. was executed in cold blood in Turbat. The war against the Baloch identity is fought not just with bullets, but with the erasure of its intellectuals.

What went wrong with ‘Pakistan’s Dubai’? – inside the Chinese initiative that is prompting terror attacks
In Pakistan’s impoverished region of Balochistan, where the Chinese have constructed the airport and taken control of the deepwater port, it has provoked a full-blown security crisis, stirring up tensions between the two countries.
Starkly unfulfilled promises that Gwadar would be transformed into “Pakistan’s Dubai” have led to potent anger towards China among locals, who accuse it of turning the city into something akin to a high security prison, with high fencing, segregated areas for Chinese workers, security checkpoints, and heavy police and military presence on the streets.
