Mir Safeer Baloch is among those leaders who survived state repression, but by placing a bounty on him, it is being signaled that Baloch political leadership can be targeted anywhere in the world.
The announcement of a bounty on Safeer Baloch, former Secretary General of BSO and senior leader of BNM, is deeply alarming. It reflects a troubling pattern of intimidation and signals insecurity within state institutions. Targeting a political activist in this manner constitutes a clear act of repression and a serious violation of fundamental human rights.
Safeer Baloch’s brother, Mir Jamil Sarparah, who served as PRO to the Governor of Balochistan, was forcibly disappeared in 2015. Several close relatives have also suffered grave abuses, including enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings. This history underscores the sustained pressure faced by his family.
Such actions place political activists and their families at immediate risk. National and international human rights bodies, including the Office of the @UN_HRC United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees @Refugees , must take urgent notice. Concrete and effective measures are needed to ensure the protection and safety of political activists and their families.
Making such baseless allegations against political figures like @mirsafeer_ Safeer Baloch senior leader of @BNMovement_ is in reality an attempt to blackmail, intimidate, and pressure them into abandoning their political stance. The Pakistani establishment will never succeed through these tactics.
In this picture, stands my uncle — a man whose only “crime” was being a Baloch. On 2nd February, he was abducted by Pakistani forces. Since that day, he has been missing. No charges. No trial. No information. Just silence — the kind of silence that families of the forcibly disappeared in Balochistan know too well.
Standing beside him was my cousin, Lateef Baloch — a courageous and well-known journalist who believed in truth and refused to be silenced. On 24 May last year, he was killed at his home by the same forces and their proxies. His pen was treated as a threat. His voice was answered with bullets.
The barbarism did not end there.
Lateef’s son, Saif Baloch, was abducted by the Pakistani army and killed in custody on 25 March the same year. A father and son — erased within months. A family targeted across generations.
This photograph is not just a memory. It is evidence of a pattern — enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and collective punishment simply for being Baloch.
We demand accountability. And we will continue to speak for those who were silenced.

Mir Safeer Baloch is a senior leader of the Baloch National Movement and a former Secretary General of BSO. He is among the few political leaders who have carried out a long and consistent struggle for democratic politics, national rights, and the voice of the people in Balochistan.
By placing a bounty of 150 million rupees on his head, Pakistan has effectively sent a message to the world that there is no democratic space for political struggle in Balochistan. When a price is set on the head of a political leader, it clearly means that the state considers politics to be a crime. Several other leaders have also been included in the same list.
Mir Safeer Baloch is among those leaders who survived state repression, but by placing a bounty on him, it is being signaled that Baloch political leadership can be targeted anywhere in the world. This is not merely a threat to one individual, but an open declaration against the entire Baloch political leadership.
The world must remember that in the past as well, Baloch leaders and activists have been targeted abroad, such as Karima Baloch in Canada and Sajid Hussain Baloch in Sweden. If the international community continues to remain silent, this pattern will pose serious dangers not only to the Baloch people but also to global peace.
Placing bounties on political activists is clear evidence that there is no guarantee of democracy, political freedom, or basic human rights in Balochistan.
We make it clear that political struggle cannot be ended through bounty announcements and threats. Attempts to silence voices have never succeeded in history.
Publicly declaring bounties on political leaders in the media is an act of open aggression and politics of intimidation. This dangerous escalation against the Baloch people reflects the consequences of global silence.

Shaukat Buledi, a Pioneering Comrade in the Struggle, Passes Away; His Death a Significant Loss for the Party, Says BNM Spokesperson
#BNMSpokesperson#TributeToShaukatBuledi | Tuesday, October 7, 2025

The spokesperson for the Baloch National Movement (BNM) has expressed profound sorrow and grief over the passing of former Central Committee member Shaukat Buledi, who died in exile. The spokesperson described his death as an immense loss and an irreparable tragedy for the party.
BNM pays heartfelt tribute to his lifelong contributions and sacrifices for the national struggle and remembers him as a devoted, courageous, and steadfast comrade of the Baloch freedom movement.
Concerns Regarding His Death and Possible Slow Poisoning
The spokesperson stated that Shaukat Buledi had devoted his entire life to the Baloch national liberation movement. During his exile, he reportedly passed away on October 4, 2025, apparently due to a liver-related illness. His years in exile were marked by great hardship and adversity. Because of his active national role, he was repeatedly targeted abroad by agents of Pakistan’s ISI. In May 2024 and August 2024, he survived life-threatening attacks that left him with severe injuries to his head, back, and left side.
"Serious concerns have also been raised about the circumstances surrounding his death, with suspicions that Pakistani operatives may have administered a slow-acting poison. Due to his continued activism, his family members were also subjected to harassment and intimidation by the Pakistan Army and its intelligence agencies. "
Martyrdom of Altaf Buledi and Shaukat’s Entry into the Freedom Struggle
According to the spokesperson, Shaukat Buledi hailed from Meenaz, in the Buleda region. His brother-in-law, martyr Altaf Buledi, was a committed member of BNM who was martyred by state forces during a peaceful rally held on the second anniversary of Shaheed Akbar Khan Bugti’s martyrdom in 2008.
That tragedy deeply moved Shaukat and became the defining moment that drew him fully into the national movement. He abandoned his business activities in the United Arab Emirates, returned to Balochistan, and dedicated himself entirely to the struggle for freedom.
He served as BNM’s President for the Kech region, and during the 2010 and 2014 Central Council sessions, he was elected to the Central Committee of the party.
Contributions to Ideological and Literary Work
Highlighting his party services, the spokesperson said that Shaukat Buledi made outstanding contributions on the ideological and literary fronts. He founded Sangar Publications, launched the monthly magazine Sangar, and facilitated the publication of several significant books. Later, he transformed Sangar Publications into a digital platform and continued to lead it until his final days.
Without seeking recognition or personal gain, he chose to live in an unfamiliar land in obedience to the party’s decisions, working in silence and anonymity. Despite declining health and physical weakness in his final days, he remained resilient, dedicated, and active.
“Shaukat Buledi built communication bridges between the Baloch and other oppressed nations through media initiatives, fostering mutual solidarity and expanding the reach of the liberation movement. During exile, he managed the party’s media responsibilities with exceptional integrity and devotion.”
Enduring Sacrifices — Exile, Illness, and Separation from Homeland
The spokesperson stated that his exile, illness, and separation from his homeland and loved ones were all part of his enduring sacrifices for the cause of freedom. His life, struggle, and service will forever stand as a source of pride and inspiration for the party.
His absence will be deeply felt in all sections and institutions of the organization. He was a tireless, sincere, and action-oriented revolutionary, who, until his last breath, sought new ways forward and opened new chapters in the struggle for independence.
With his passing, BNM has lost a leading comrade who embodied courage, perseverance, and leadership on every front of the struggle.
