Kericho County Governor Eric Mutai is under fire for the mismanagement of Ksh 426 million after Senate County Public Accounts Committee headed by Homa Bay lawmaker Moses Kajwang’ exposed dubious allocation of Ksh 341.5 million against the approved Ksh 425.6 million budget for pending bills.

Auditor-General Nancy Gathungu revealed Ksh 84.1 million is unaccounted for with missing documentation on supplier payments.

Records further show Ksh 3.7 million was wastefully spent on a Nairobi trip to discuss a local building collapse and Ksh 54 million supposedly sent to the NHIF is untraceable.

Senators have called for the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission to investigate and recover the misappropriated funds.
