@BlockDAG_M2@HalSentMe@AlexMasonCrypto Wall Street ETF inflows hit empty order books, triggering automated derivative code that forcefully liquidated shorts. This artificial price acceleration is thin glass, not solid capital support. Beware of the structural vacuum.
@AlexMasonCrypto Tone it down track the data 😉
I did not follow the full convo, but a few clarifications came to mind from the parts I did read.
1. @maxibitcat’s idea of “ordering of this type of transaction only at merge time, using some randomness coming from the whole round” obviously requires a consensus change. btw I’d apply it to all txs in order to reduce MEV also for based apps etc.
2. there is a ladder here:
step 1 (what I referred to in the main post): non-consensus change that can be implemented post Toccata activation: accept the tx to the mempool without resolving the shared-state UTXO (call this abstract entity X). when building the block template, resolve to the most updated UTXO of X. requires indexing the UTXO set by covenant ids. con: parallel miners can resolve different txs to the same UTXO so some of them will not count (effectively serializing access to X to 1 per round).
step 2: a future consensus change that resolves X at block merge time according to the final mergeset order. as I’ve told bitcat, this would break fundamental assumptions of the UTXO model and I highly doubt we can do this. eg it breaks the linkage between a tx id and the UTXOs the tx spends (in graph terms it breaks the hashable edge structure of the tx DAG).
step 3 (independent of 2): randomize the per-round order and don’t give the merging block full control. relevant to any MEV-hardness claim over Kaspa.
3. interestingly, step 1 does not allow easy front-running and sandwiching. that’s bcs Kaspa rules forbid chained txs within the same block, so the miner can’t have both his tx and the attacked tx in his block (the latter must use the output of the earlier as input).
The upcoming upgrade was chosen without regards to vprogs, and no meaningful effort was made to optimize it for vprogs (definitely nothing delaying Tocatta by more than a few days).
Tocatta is a principled implementation of bitcoin-originating covenants which, if ever implemented in bitcoin, would use the op_cat workaround. It is the default method to introduce programmability into a thin verification-oriented L1 to preserve its decentralized lean value prop.
vprogs are outside core’s focus precisely because we are optimizing for usability over theoretical superiority.
I hope this helps you and grok update your premise.
(BTW counterexample to your claim about inevitability of fragmentation: Solana)

This short re-stated parable was inspired by a recent address from Yonatan Sompolinsky @hashdag at the @OxfordUnion Society. He referenced a classic game theory model, commonly attributed to Jean-Jacques Rousseau, known as the Stag Hunt, as a way to understand coordination in human systems.
For a deeper look at his talk and what it could mean for the future of the internet and blockchain (#Kaspa), read a deeper commentary blog post via link in thread.
The Hunter’s Dilemma
Two seasoned hunters came upon a clearing at the edge of a dense pine forest. The sun had not yet crested the horizon and the morning mist floated over the glen up to their waist, allowing the evergreen Gorse bushes, some as high as 4 feet, to look like floating flora in a sea of fog. It was mid October, during the autumn rut (mating season) and the air in the Highlands carried a chill that settled deep into their bones. They had walked together for a couple of hours, saying little, each paying attention to the ground, the wind, and the small signs that told them what might be nearby.
At the edge of the clearing, one of them noticed movement in the brush as the fog started to dissolve.
A hare.
It stayed low and quiet, close enough that either of them could have stepped forward and taken it without much effort. It was the kind of catch they both knew well. Quick, reliable, and enough meat to fill a belly, may be enough to sustain them for a day. They had both taken many like it before, and there was no uncertainty in how it would play out.
They both saw it and began to shift their weight, slowly positioning themselves. Each unslung his rifle, aimed and paused. For a moment, nothing else mattered.
Then, further out in the clearing, something larger came into view.
A stag.
A mature Highland Red Deer stag, often referred to as a "Royal Stag."
A magnificent and powerful animal, typical of the rugged Scottish landscape.
12 points, six on each antler.
They call these the “Monarch of the Glen.”
The beast let out a deep, guttural roar that echoed across the plain. This serves to proclaim their territory, warn off challengers, and they say, can even kickstart the hinds' reproductive cycles.
It moved slowly, with caution, keeping its distance from the edges of the forest. It was not close, but close enough to get both their hearts pumping as they peered between the thorny branches of the whin bush. Taking it would not be simple. It would take time to understand its movement, time to find the right positions, and time to act in a way that gave them a real chance.
They stood still, checking the wind and smiling. They were downwind. Their scent would not give them away. They watched.
The hare remained near the brush, still within reach. If one of them chose to go for it, the movement would be enough to break the stillness of the clearing. The stag would hear it, turn, and be gone before either of them could adjust. The larger opportunity would disappear the moment the smaller one was taken.
They both knew this.
No words were spoken, but the next step was clear.
One of them could take a shot and take the hare, and end the hunt with something certain. He would eat that day. He would not go hungry. It was a decision that asked very little and carried almost no risk.
The other path asked much more of them.
If they were going to take the stag, they would need to remain where they were and begin to think through what it would take. They would need to coordinate. They would need to watch how it moved across the clearing, how it reacted to the wind, how much ground lay between them and it. They would need to find a way to spread out without drawing attention, to position themselves so that when one moved, the other would already be where he needed to be.
It would take time. It could take hours.
And even then, there was no promise of success.
If one of them moved too early, or in the wrong direction, the stag would be gone. If one of them hesitated at the wrong moment, the chance would pass just as quickly. Each of them had to trust that the other would move when it mattered, not before and not after. Coordination was paramount.
They stood there, both aware of the same choice.
They could take the hare and secure a meal for the day with little effort.
Or they could stay, work together, and attempt something that could provide for them both and their families for much longer, knowing that it could also leave them with nothing at all if it failed.
Neither hunter moved.
They met each other’s eyes… steady, resolute… and slowly nodded.
They knew the risks.
They set their hearts and minds on one target.
The hare was forgotten.
The stag hunt had begun.

@Chris_Hutch7@const_reborn Appreciate you taking the time to reply so clearly, Thanks for the honest breakdown.
Makes a lot of sense to prove the benefits of both networks working together first before considering anything bigger.
Respect the approach.
